Chapter 2

Naruto POV

When I ran out of the mansion, I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings. I just ran with no destination in mind. When I finally stopped to take a breather, I was deep within the forest of Konoha. I've never been here before. I would always go to the Forest of Death. This place is.....unnerving because of the silence. No birds chirping or singing. Not even a breeze blowing the leaves to dance. Deciding that I should go, I get up from my crouch position and begin walking in the direction of where I think 'home' is. Though after a few minutes? hours? it's unclear but I know I've been walking in a circle. I swear, I saw that same tree 4 times already!    

I sat down at the base of a dead tree and sighed. Thinking back, it was stupid of me to run. Especially since I wasn't thinking. Now I don't know where I am. Could be lost forever because of my stupidity. I'm not mad at Menma about the situation. I'm more pissed off at our- no, his Godfather. Like why the hell would he tell me that I was going to get it but then give the contract to Menma?  Add to the fact that our- no, again his parents smile like everything was okay? They're not my family. The only one who's family is Menma, Danzo, Jiji, Shisui, and Itachi. Everyone else can go fuck themselves...

Growling in frustration, I tug at the ends of my hair. Now, what am I going to do? I'm lost in the middle of nowhere and don't know how to get back. I now have to look for a contract myself and I don't know where to find one. It could take years for me to find a decent contract! Suddenly, I felt something crawl on my arms. Letting out a manly squeal, I jump up and started flailing my arms around. Looking down, I see.....scorpions? 

{What the hell? Aren't scorpions supposed to be in the desert?} 

Though looking closer, there seems to be a trail of them. Millions of them coming from somewhere but going in one direction. (A/N: I wonder if you guys can tell where this scene comes from XP)  Curiosity getting the better of me, I follow as well. The trail of scorpions took forever. It was like a never-ending line. Not only that but I go deeper into the forest. 

That's not what I wanted!!

But I still followed because, why not? I could be here, lost forever. Could die from starvation or get eaten by wild animals. Following a trail of Arthropods that could lead to my death as well, seems like the way to go. I mean why not a small adventure before I go?

Anyways, I walk into a small area filled with dirt, sand, and patches of dead grass. The scorpions seem to bury themselves in the ground. Disappearing from view. "Great! I followed some stupid scorpions for nothing." grumbling, I started to turn around before something caught my attention. Turning back around, a lump was on the ground, near the other side of the small area. Deciding, why the hell not? I went over to dig it up. 

Getting on my hands and knees, I dug my fingers into the dry soil. For a minute or two, my fingers dug deep. The hole was possibly two feet now since each time I tried to get the item, it would fall deeper. When I was finally able to get a firm grip of whatever the hell the item was, I tugged with all my might. Flying backward a few inches and landing roughly on my ass caused me to grunt. "Damn that hurt..." 

Looking down, I see a scroll? It was a faded brown and gold. Possibly hasn't been used in years. Turning it around in my hands, I saw there was a symbol of a scorpion. Thinking about why the hell a scroll was buried in the middle of nowhere, really confused me. Add to the fact that it was surrounded by scorpions made things even more confusing. Deciding to open the scroll since, hell I found it, I unrolled it to see names. A butch of old names that were written in blood. I almost threw the damn thing in frustration before stopping. Thinking back to the lessons Jiji told me, he said there was a variety of summonings. Some of them were given to people while others disappeared. 

Eyes widening in realization, I look down and look at the scroll in disbelief.  "No way......Is this the Summoning Contract of the Scorpions!?"
