New Neighbours

Niko takes heavy breaths as he naps. He'd been working the past nights to get ready for college and he was very tired. Jia opens her apartment door and walks a few feet over to the door beside hers. She places the box down, fishes a small note out of pocket and slips the note under the ribbon. "Hello! I'm your new neighbour from Apartment 167. Hope to meet you soon. Enjoy these cupcakes." The note read. She rang the doorbell and quickly ran back inside her apartment. Jia takes a deep breath and watches the box through the peephole on the door. The cupcakes were from the small cupcake store next to 11:11 in which she worked part time. Niko awoke to the sound of his bell ringing. "Huh." He mutters as he gets up, his eyes still half closed. Niko walks to the door. He opens the door. Niko picks up the box carefully and walks back into his apartment.

Jia doesn't see Niko's face. All she sees is his black hair and his hands pick up the box and the door close. She sighs. "New neighbour." She mumbles and walks to the balcony and looks out the door. Snow lightly coats the scenery. Niko slides the note from under it's ribbon. He reads it and smiles. Niko opens up the box. It holds some adorable cupcakes. Niko closes the box again and puts in on the kitchen counter. He writes up a note with a little doodle. The note reads;

Thank you! I don't have anything to give you in return, sorry. Hope we meet soon.

Sincerely, Your neighbour from room 168.

Niko walks to room 167 and slides the note under the door. He rings the doorbell and leaves. Leonardo Penton walks into the apartment complex. His arms are stacked heavily with boxes and he goes to the front desk to get the key. Room 168. Leonardo takes his boxes up to the room and rings the doorbell. Niko walks back to the door and opens it. "Hi." The two say simultaneously. "You must be Niko." Leonardo says. "And you must be Leonardo." Niko replies. Leonardo walks into the room and plops his boxes down. "Nice to meet you, roommate." Niko says. "Same." replies Leonardo. "And call me Leo."

Niko nods. He disappears into the room with his desk.

Siona forms and plops on the couch. "Nice new place." She says before laying down, with her head on her front legs. Jia nods and skims the bookshelf for something to read. She had yesterday and today off from work. Tomorrow she returns. It is a job just to help with groceries and what not. It is only part time. Jia is paid fairly with a good amount. 15.00 an hour and she works for 6 and a half hours when she does work. She works Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Part time ish. Siona perks up as the note slips under the door and Jia walks to get it. She picks up the note and smiles. Already off to a good start with her neighbour. Excellent.

Jia picks up her phone and sits at the Kitchen Island. She texts Niko. Her username has changed.

Jia_Lyia: Aye Aye

Leo opens his boxes and builds his bed in another room from Niko's, as well as his desk, and a lamp. "I'm gonna go to work!" Niko calls to Leo. "Bye!" Leo calls back. Niko walks out and his phone beeps. He walks down the stairs and goes to the bus stop. He opens the text as he waits for the bus.

Neko._.Niko: Hey

Niko had his learner's permit, but no car. So the bus is the best alternative. He somehow got a part-time job at Hot Topic.

Jia_Lyia: What's up?

Neko._.Niko: Not much. Going to work. Anything new with you?

The bus arrived and Niko got on, giving the bus driver a ticket and sitting down. "Crap. Money getting low." He murmured. "At least I don't have to pay rent for a month."

Jia_Lyia: I moved.

Jia bite her lip.

Neko._.Niko: Cool. Apartment, I'm guessing?
