That was when Kate really pulled my attention from the sweets I was gathering. I stared at her with an intense glare attached to my face. She just giggled and snuck a few glances over Harvey's way. I shut the door to the glass case, pastries now cupped in my hand.

"For one, he's not my boyfriend. For two, you better not touch him." I warned, staring at her stupid blushing face. I then made my way over to the opposite side of the coffee machines. There was a short wooden table that had extra pairs of gloves, extra napkins and plastic bags for small things like this.

I grabbed a small bag that had "Lucky's Café" printed onto the white plastic and a few napkins to wrap the macarons in. I set the napkin down on the table and slowly wrapped the macarons in it before placing them inside of the plastic bag. As I did this, I hadn't realized Kate had gone over to the front counter and stood at a cash register. More importantly, she was chatting with Harvey.

I quickly made my way over to the front counter and gently pushed Kate aside. I took a good look at Harvey's freckled face and found that he was blushing. What is this..? I'm angry for some reason. Is this what jealousy feels like? Maybe even envy? Why am I feeling this way, though? We're just friends after all... I shouldn't shelter him away from everybody.

"Hey! No need to shove!" she whined, playing with her long braid of blonde hair. I rolled my eyes and extended Harvey's order of sweets to him. He just smiled with amusement and took the small bag from my hands... Our fingers touched and my heart nearly skipped a beat.

"That'll be $2.00, please." I grinned, reaching up to fix the ponytail in my hair. As I did this, he fished out his wallet and pulled out four dollar bills. He slid the money forward, looking up at me through his dark, curly eyelashes. I looked at the cash and back up at him.

"That's $4.00, genius." I joked calmly. He just chuckled and tapped the extra two dollar bills before speaking.

"I know. Consider the extra money as a tip." he genuinely smiled along with his statement. I felt my face warm at this as I pushed a strand of long black hair away from my face. I saw him narrow his eyes at the gesture and he turned on his heel rather dramatically. He started heading for the entrance. Hey... Why isn't he sticking around?

Then, he left and turned to the right where I could see him from the large 6'0 window that lit up the whole shop with sunlight seeping through the glass. Bushes of peons and other assortments of flowers blocked a clear view of him. All I could see was his head when he sat down on the bench outside.

Finally, something snapped me out of my thoughts. It was Kate, nudging my arm suggestively. "Your eyes are pretty affixed to that boy, Ashy~" she teased, holding a small tablet that listed the most recent orders. I sighed heavily, giving in to her silly assumptions.

'Although he's cute and all, I'm pretty sure I'm not falling for him. I mean, we just met yesterday!' I told her silently, trying to give her a hint that I was denying her comment. She just scoffed with a large, idiotic grin.

"Oh c'mon! We all saw you two flirting at the front counter!" she cheered, hopping with excitement. Yeah... She's that kind of woman. The only thing she's missing is cakes of makeup and every clothing item splattered with pink and jewels.

Back onto topic, I eyed Kate through my peripheral vision. Well, she's not wrong. I was flirting but obviously it was a joke, right..? I replied frantically, "I-It's not like I wanted to see him blush... If anything, I got more cash with that tactic!"

She just groaned as if she's heard that excuse over a million times. She seemed pretty bored with my made-up nonsense and pushed me towards the small swinging half door. "Yeah yeah... Go and see him now! He looks lonely out there!" the 23-year-old Kate ushered me through the door and left me on my own from there.

I just sighed and tried my best not to look awkward as I crossed the café. The place still had lots of customers, all occupying the wooden tables that traced the perimeter of the shop. "Just please don't look at me and I'll be fine.." I mumbled, quiet enough for nobody to hear me.

I slowly made my way over to the transparent doors and took a firm hold of the vertically placed handles. I pushed one of them open and the small bell rung softly. I stepped outside and inhaled the fresh spring air. That was when a gasp from my left caused me to turn my head. There I saw Harvey, holding the two light minty green sweets in his right hand.

"Oh. Uh, these are amazing, Ashton. Who actually makes them?" he asked, probably catching onto the fact that there was no baking visible to the customers. They're just stored in glass or plastic cases, ready to be served. Well, except the coffee. We just make it here at the cafe with the help of technology. I just raised an arm and covered the side of my neck out of embarrassment.

"I make them..." I muttered, averting my gaze from his and throwing it to the concrete sidewalk in front of us. I heard him gasp softly and then there was silence... The uncomfortable kind too. I turned to look back at him to see a large blush covering his face. His eyes were hazy, complimenting the crimson dancing across his face. I just snickered and reached over to ruffle his dark hair. He seemed to relax that way, leaning into my hand's touch.

"They're very delicious. That's so awesome." he muttered, trying to hide his nearly fire-lit face. I truly felt moved by his praise, so I leaned over and brushed the hair away from his face. My lips barely brushed against his ear when I began to whisper an offer that only he and I would know of.

"If you want, I can bake some at home for you. Don't worry, they'll be free too." I laughed at the end of my statement and it was everything but chided, threatening or sarcastic. He just stared at me, as if he were believing this was all a dream. I bet I nailed his thoughts just now.

"Ah... Th-that'd be great! Uh, thank you."

I couldn't help but keep my smile steady as he struggled to form another sentence. My God, he is so cute when he's flustered!
