Selena's POV:

*
The pack ran into the city. It was time for my last ritual. If I did this, Demi and I could stay in this pack for at least a while. I would finally be where I belong. I would, as an Anti, be part of an Anti-pack. It was the answer to everything, I had only realized that since a few days. I was more than ready. I had trained for this. We climbed onto the roof of a small building and ran to the edge. The twins kept laughing and yelling, being excited as they always are. Ketua stopped and looked down. "Here's your prey, Siren." He stated, letting me look down as well. A police car was stood there, parked on the sidewalk. Two policemen sat in it, drinking coffee, waiting for a call. It was very late in the evening. "These people are special cops that have been hunting for flocks for centuries. Can you see the Native American people on their batches? They were seen as clean people during the European imperialism. As the opposite of Penariks, and so they depicted them on their batches, as sign of being against us. Understood?" "Yes. Can I go?" "Just a second." Ketua, straightened his back and turned around. I quickly followed. I could see Demi running towards us, totally out of breath. "I'm sorry, I couldn't find you." She panted. She wanted to go with us, even though the pack members had warned her it would be a very physical journey. I found it somewhat cute, because even though she was against all this, she still wanted to be there for me at this moment of truth. I smiled at her and nodded. My head pointed back to the police car. "Ready?" Ketua asked. "Yes." I smiled, going down on all fours. I could see the door of the car getting opened. "Now!"

I jumped down and landed on my feet, right behind the police officer getting out of the car. I grabbed my weapon and swung the cord around his neck, catching the end of it with the same hand. I pulled the cord tight and strangled the man to the ground. During this moment, the officer behind the wheel quickly got out of the car and held his gun in both of his hands, pointed at me. I noticed my skin had turned grey and dry very quickly, but this time it was a good sign. I smiled faintly and started to twist my arms behind my back. I felt alive. My neck went along with it, dancing a bit, and before I knew the officer had dropped his gun. He walked towards me slowly, wanting me. I used my specialty to call him to me, just like a real siren. Within a second I had swung the cord around his neck, and he fell on the ground. "UYU!" The pack member yelled of excitement and jumped down as well. They got in and on top of the car. Ketua grabbed a plank near the garbage cans and used it to destroy the police scanners. He got behind the wheel and I sat down next to him. We drove away with the sirens running wild. Mata and Jarak screamed, and so did Irama and Ketukan. I laughed, excited about what I had just done. We drove recklessly and ended in the woods. Ketua stopped the car at an open place. The Penariks got out. They were all so pumped that they couldn't help but to dance like Penariks do. Our shadows were filled with excitement and energy. This was amazing. Ketua and Sage grabbed a can of oil and started pouring it over the car, mostly over the engine. I stood still, watching the spectacle happen. The boss walked towards me and stood still next to me. He grabbed matches from his pocket and gave them to me. This was my moment. When the three lit matches reached the oil, the car lit up in amazingly massive flames. And within a few seconds, it exploded with a big bang. I laughed with a surprised face and started to yell at the others. We kept on dancing, the whole night long. I just saw mire silhouettes, dancing in the flames. The heat filled my body with joy. My shadows had never loved me more than they did now.

Demi's POV:

I could see her kill them. It was as if it was nothing to her. Perhaps it was nothing to her. She used her specialty to call the second police officer to her and then killed him. All as if it was nothing. The other Penariks yelled after she killed the last guy, and they jumped down, leaving me behind. They ruined the car and got in. I got down on my knees and saw them driving away. I knew I would be left behind at some point. I was shocked and sad at the same time. They had warned me that I wouldn't keep up, so I didn't mind being left behind. But Selena just killed two people... Even though they did hunt down several flocks, they still had their own lives. Their own families. It's as if Selena didn't think about that at all. It's as if she avoided thinking about it. She wanted to be in that pack so badly. I walked to the other side of the roof and climbed down the way I had climbed up. After reaching the ground, I made my way back to the big old house in the forest by bus. I was actually glad about it, I had time to think. Because what had just happened completely took me off guard. Selena is the love of my life, and yet she just killed two people. I should think like a grown up, and say that I don't want to live with an actual murderer. But our relationship has never been the normal American Dream. Selena is a Penarik for crying out loud. Penariks can kill people, and I need to face that. I don't have to accept it, but I can let it go. I arrived at the house, a bit devastated. I was tired, it was late. I didn't really look forward to the creatures coming back in full excitement. They were probably going to celebrate Selena joining the pack. I wasn't even allowed to. They told me I could tag along, but apparently, a human in an Anti-pack is a no go. I placed my bag on the couch and rubbed my face. Perhaps the morning light would make things better. Maybe it would change my perspective on things.
