"Maddie, you look beautiful!" I say.

She blushes, then says, "Thanks! You do too."

"Hello Jacob," she says when she opens the door, and looks directly into his eyes, except he's not looking at her, he's looking at me.

Uh oh.

"Chloe?" he asks.

Chapter 27

"Yeah?" I say slowly.

"You two know each other?" Maddie says.

She looks hurt.

"Um yeah. Maddie, this is Jacob, my ex," I admit.

Instead of saying something, she just grabs Jacob and kisses him.

"Well he's mine now," Maddie says, and smiles sarcastically.

"I can tell that now," I say through gritted teeth.

I see Jacob mouth the words "text me" from behind Maddie.

I give a slight nod, then say, "I'll leave you two alone."

"Wait, can I talk to you alone?" Maddie asks me.

"Um, sure," I agree.

We walk into our closet and Maddie turns on the light.

"Jacob's mine now, but you can have Josh," Maddie says.

"Okay," I agree, but I'm not sure if I'm over Jacob yet.

I start to walk out, but Maddie stops me.

"One more thing," she says.

"What?" I ask.

"Don't tell Josh I'm here, I don't want him knowing," Maddie says, biting her lip.

"Don't worry, I won't tell him," I promise.

"Thanks Chlo!" Maddie says, before walking out to be with Jacob.

I walk to the other room, since our dorm has two parts to it.

I can still hear through the door, so I decide to listen to what they're saying.

"Now where were we?" Maddie says.

I hear them start kissing, so I decide to get ready for bed.

The next morning, I wake up to someone lightly shaking my arm. It's a Saturday so we don't have classes.

I slowly open my eyes and see someone standing above me. I jump back in surprise.

Once my eyes focus, I see Josh standing there.

"Josh, what are you doing here?" I ask.

"I live here duh," he states obviously.

"Well duh, but I meant what are you doing in my dorm? And how'd you get it?" I ask.

"Oh well I was at Starbucks and I saw that they had the Pumpkin Spice Latte on the menu and I remembered that it was your favorite, so I decided to get it for you," Josh says.

"Awe that's so sweet, you remembered my favorite Starbucks drink," I say.

He smiles and winks.

"But still, how'd you get in here?" I ask again.

"Uh, I knocked and no one opened the door, so I just decided to open it, and it was unlocked," Josh finally says.

"Oh darn! Maddie must've forgotten to lock the door after Jacob left," I say, smacking my head lightly.

"Maddie Ziegler?" Josh asks in surprise.

Oops.
