Thomas followed Blair all the way back to the building in which they'd spent most of their time in. He walked in through the gaping hole in the wall of the first floor to find that she'd disappeared.

He stopped and looked around. "This is becoming a habit," Blair's voice echoed through the lobby. Thomas whipped around to see her emerge from a shadowy corner, "you, following me wherever I go."

Thomas was struck silent with embarrassment. Blair walked over to him and tilted her head to the side slightly. "I'm alright, I just like to be alone sometimes," she explained with a smile.

Finally finding his voice, Thomas stuttered out, "right, I-I can go, I didn't know-"

His statement was but short by Blair's small laugh. "That's not necessary," she assured with a smirk, "see, this time I ran off because I knew you'd come, not because I wanted to be alone."

Leaving him with that cliffhanger, Blair turned away from him and walked toward a doorway that Thomas hadn't gone through before. Curious as to what her words meant, Thomas stumbled after her.

Inside the next room were several cots, and a few small beds made of sheets and towels. They were spread out quite nicely, considering how large and open the room was. He spotted Blair sitting atop a cot in the far back corner.

Thomas walked slowly over to her as she lit a lamp and set it on the ground next to the worn out cot. A few other men and women, along with some children, were in the room. Some slept, some talked quietly amongst themselves.

"Is this were you sleep?" Thomas asked as he took a seat next to Blair.

"Some nights," Blair replied as she untied and removed her boots, "other times I'm in other rooms; I like to switch it up."

Suddenly, Thomas recalled something. "You didn't sleep last night, you're probably exhausted," he realised as a yawn escaped Blair's lips.

"Bingo," she replied with a tired wink. She picked up a canister of water and took a sip before offering it to Thomas.

After taking a drink of water, Thomas set it back on the ground by the lamp. He and Blair both scooted back until they could lean their backs against the wall. Thomas, who was right in the corner, let his head lay to the side against the other wall.

There were a few minutes of silence before Thomas lifted his head and looked at Blair by his side. "Why don't you lay down, get some sleep," he suggested gently, "I'll stay if you want."

Blair shot him a look of shock, caught off guard for once. But never the less she smiled and teased, "and what makes you think I want you to stay?"

Thomas shrugged and grinned slightly, "you said you wanted me to come after you tonight."

For the first time ever, Thomas saw Blair's cheeks flush pink. He laughed lightly, earning his shoulder a playful punch. "I did, didn't I," Blair recalled with a smile. She took off the sweatshirt she wore and tossed it onto Thomas's lap, then laid on her side using him as a pillow.

Thomas, beginning to get used to her forwardness, simply smiled down at her. Blair's eyes we're closed, she looked so peaceful and calm. Her short, wavy hair fell over her cheek bone and covered a good portion of her face.

With his heart beat accelerating, Thomas decided to take a leap of faith; he gently brushed her hair back, letting his finger tips linger on her skin for a moment. The corners of her lips flexed up and she let out a deep breath of air.

So he continued to brush his fingers through her hair, so hesitantly that she could barely even feel it. And before he knew it, Blair had fallen fast asleep. Looking down at her, Thomas knew in his heart that he didn't want it to end; he knew he was falling for her.
