The ocean calmly rocked the elevated rooms back and forth, light streaming intensely through the windows. I throw my hands over my eyes with a groan and a cough. I pull the rag from my suit pocket, wiping blood from my mouth. I sit up, looking at the room. It's way to bright for my liking, meaning it's probably mid-noon. Well, technically, since the brightness was different at the bottom of the ocean, I'm not used to any new tone of brightness. Mark climbs back down from the too half of the pod.
"Oh great, you're up. It's around what, 2ish? The escape capsule, for some reason, had a clock so I brought it back and put it upstairs. Here, I've got lunch." He rambles, offering another platter of, guess what, fish. I took it, eating the food since it was the only thing around to eat. Somehow, I manage to stomach the food while Mark talks about what he has to do.
"If you have all these things to do, go do it and stop talking with me." I laugh, pointing to the door.
"But I'm gone most of the day, can't I just have a lazy day?" He whines.
"Sure, but stop complaining to me about your 'daily struggles'." I giggle, lightly shoving his shoulder. I put my face in the crook of his neck and hug him from behind. Mark pats my head as I release my grip on him and cough into my amazing, favorite, 10/10, bloodied rag. I walk back over to the bed and sit down.
"I want to show you something tonight." He turned, his brown eyes connecting with mine.
"Ok!" I gave a closed-eye smile and hopped onto the bed.
"But first, I'm taking a nap." I chuckle, laying down and shutting my eyes, drifting off to sleep.

I wake up to the sky visibly darker. Well, darker than 2 in the afternoon. Pink and yellow hues dance across the sky as dashes of orange, blue, and purple streak around. Mark's back is turned to me, his hair slightly damp with water droplets pooling at the tips. He's sorting through some supplies, scratching his head.
"So what did you wanna show me?" I call out to Mark's back.
"WELL follow me!" He spins around on his heal, beckoning me toward the door.
"Wanna go swimming or no?"
"Not really, bad memories" I chuckle. He swims out to a platform, pressing a few things on a tablet to have a submarine form. He drives it back over to me, opening the top.
"Get in looser, we're going into the ocean." He laughs. I hop into the small submarine as it putters through the ocean.
"This is much nicer than swimming, why didn't we make this earlier?" I look at Mark.
"Because I'm pretty sure shelter takes priority over a-"
"BULL SHIT WE COULD LIVE IN THE SUBMARINE!" I cut him off, yelling and laughing.
"You're telling me you'd live in here for 2 weeks?" He throws back, making me go silent.
"That's what I thought." He smirks, winking extremely over-dramatically. He jerks the submarine up to the surface, a small splash rippling through the calm waves of the water. The top of the ocean vehicle opens up, revealing the escape pod. I look at Mark in confusion, to which he laughs and hops onto the ladder stretching on the side of the pod. He stretches his arm out and grabs onto mine, pulling me up the ladder and to the top of the pod. A small space, big enough for 3 people to sit uncomfortably, was at the top. Mark threw down our thin blanket down on the surface, laying down. I join him, also laying down on the blanket. I place my palm to my head, trying to soothe the throbbing occurring. Mark scoots closer to me, his body warmth warming my cold arms. The wind gently fluttered around, making me burrow deeper into Mark. The sun was completely sunken into the sky, giving room for the moon and stars to faintly appear. The ocean rocks the pod gently, pushing back and forth with the tide. Mark fell asleep, leaving me to my own thoughts. How were we supposed to get out of here? What's going to happen when we get back to Earth? Is there anyone else here? Did everyone else die? Is this a dream? Question after question piled into my head, my eyes narrowing in thought. I shrug it off, willing myself to eventually go to sleep.
