Ding Ding Ding

Ding Ding Ding

The emergency bell rings 6 times whenever there is something truly not right. I remember practicing through the drills last week to prepare for things likes this and I'm pretty sure I know who the bell is for. Being with Brent made me lose all interest in the bells, and soon I thought I was hearing sirens; however, I did not care because he was good at making me forget things. As our boat slows to a stop Brent grabs my hand and points at the dreamy night sky towards a shooting star.

"Wow! I've never seen a shooting star before what a beautiful sight" I say, grabbing his other hand. I turn my head to notice Brent leaning towards my lips. I close my eyes and begin to think about the dark forest in my dreams, but suddenly the forest starts to get brighter and brighter. Slowly opening up my eyes I realize the bright light was not something that was occurring my dream, but from the shooting star Brent had just pointed out to me.

CRASH!!

The cold lake immediately began to submerge my warm body; quickly turning it ice cold. With my body slowly starting to sink I try to understand what had just happened. I think about Joslin and my family back at home; I wasn't in any pain but I felt frozen and I couldn't remember how to swim. Feeling exhausted after being thrown in the lake I think about resting; it felt peaceful to close my eyes.

"BRENT!" I Scream, my voice muffled by the water. Looking around I see his lifeless body at the bottom of the lake. Swimming down I reach and grab his arm pulling him up and as I crawl onto the rocky beach I am suddenly startled by Joslin's unexpected appearance.

"What are you doing here," I say coughing as water escapes my mouth.

With sadness covering Joslin's face she walks up inches from mine, "I followed you Fiana and I wanted to know why you always disappear at night."

Ignoring here I kneel to see Brent's conditions, "Are you okay," I ask his lifeless body "please wake up" I add.

"Who are you talking to Fiana?" asks Joslin.

"Brent? Don't you see him?" I question, my heart starting to race.

"No..." she replies quietly, "Just bones..."

Rubbing my eyes I too only see the bones; suddenly my heart drops.

"Follow me!" I yell, grabbing hold of Joslin's wrist.

SLAM SLAM SLAM

"No answer," implies Joslin.

SLAM SLAM SLAM

"Ah screw It," I yell kicking in the infirmary door. I knew Linda had sick campers, but I didn't care. Rushing up to her room I turn on her lights waking her up in the process.

"FIANA, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN," she screams, while running up to hug me, "everyones been out looking for you, and your soaking," she adds.

"NEVER MIND THAT," I say, ignoring her comment, "remember when I helped you carry the newspapers up to the attic a few weeks ago, and I handed you that old story from 1930 about a missing camper that used to go here."

"Of course I do that was very kind of you, but what does that have to..."

Interrupting her, "WHAT WAS THE CAMPER'S NAME," I yell, still soaking from the lake.

"Brent Bryans, why?"
