Chapter Four

Vawp's P.O.V.

     I slowly wake up having Ruby wrapped around my arms lightly. I nuzzle into her a bit more before I take a look around the room seeing it was early enough for the sun not to have risen enough to give off its natural light.

     I look too Ruby to see her sleeping face, smiling softly. I look around the room again remembering that the tournament was today. I slowly slid out of bed silently landing on the floor.

     I grabbed my outfit and slowly exited the room quietly to not wake any of the four. Upon my exit and sliding my mask on  U check my scroll for the time, it was 3 am and awhile till the tournament so I decided to go on a little walk.

     As I walked through the hallway I felt like something odd was off, it felt like the air or something was different. I looked around for a moment before hearing footsteps in front of me, when I look I see Ruby.

     I stop for a moment, I thought Ruby was asleep in the room. She walked up to me and waved to me with a smile, I waved back as I started to sense something else or someone in the hallway with us, I look around not seeing anyone before looking back at Ruby but she's gone.

     I step back taking a quick look at seeing the person I was able to sense earlier, it was a green haired girl. I stared at her placing a hand on my waist to see she gave no reaction.

Don't be so dense

What do you mean?

Well it seems she or someone else around here is using illusions to fool us

     I think about what he said before starting to head towards Ozpin office on what just happened. If Ozpin doesn't know he needs to.

Time Skip

     As I enter the elevator I see Glynda on her way here, so I keep them for open for her. She looks to me before entering with the for closing behind her on her way up Glynda looks to me before asking, "So Vawp what brings you to Ozpins office? I assume it's important since he's not expecting you neither was I"

"Yes," I start as I scan the elevator shafts for any cameras and such out of habit, "but I'd rather we discuss this in his office..."

     She nods as the doors open and we walk out with Ozpin speaking to Ironwood. He had three Atlus robots with him which didn't partially like my presence, as usual, having them all draw their guns and point at me. Like usual I raise my hands in surrender until Iron Wood or Ozpin disable them.

     Ironwood looks at me before heading towards his robots deactivating them. I lower my arms and continue heading towards the desk silently. Ozpin had turned to face me and was about to speak before I raised a finger for him to stay silent. 

     Ozpin took a sip from his and remained silent as he saw me slowly ease towards his bookshelf and grabbed a book, at what looked like random, but slid out a book and opened it. I inspect the pages before pulling a lighter out and burning the pages revealing the pages being laced with it a recording device before grabbing it and putting it in my pocket. 

"So now let me begin, there's a student that I believe that is trying to use her semblance to trick students," I whisper still not sure if there more or not.

"Thank you for informing me," Ozpin began glancing at Ironwood, "while you're here, may I as ask a question?"

I nod

"Do you believe in fairy tales?" 

I glance at him raising an eyebrow

"What if I told you..."

"That they're real?" I started, seeing everyone in the room looked shocked at my announcement, "Yes I know some of them are real, Like the spring maidens, I helped one before when I was starting out..."

 Ozpin eyed me down for a bit before asking, "how much do you know about them?"

"I know they can use magic because someone from the past gifted them it," I started walking to his desk taking a seat, "but that's pretty much all I know."

"Well since you knew that much Vawp," he glances at the others for a moment before continuing, "do you know why I asked you to join beacon?"

"for my skills, I know you headmasters are protecting something important," I lean back a little sliding my mask off, "I only know that bit because of who you're fighting against."

"Did Salem try to hire you?" he looks for confirmation which I give him one by nodding.

"and before you ask Ozpin, yes I will help you protect these students, even if it cost me my life," I ended sliding my mask back onto my face.

Ozpin gives a bit shocked expression, "Well I'm glad to hear, but hopefully it won't come down to that..."

      I give a nod as I pull my scroll out with the device I found and proceed to start hacking it. I get to its firewall quickly but the firewall is definitely harder, whoever did this didn't want it traced back to, I use my own skills to get through it.

"Ozpin, when I protect Vale and die doing so," I start to glare at him as I deactivate all the bugs in this room before finishing, "I want you to promise to keep Ruby safe, not just because her eyes, but because I care too much about her for our own good."

     Ironwood stares at me, not expecting to hear me say if I had someone I cared about. I grunt feeling other me disliking this sign of 'weakness' I showed to them.

"Oh, and if you expect me to become a blind follower of yours, think again. I want to be kept in the loop" I announce getting up ready to leave.

Ironwood speaks up this time, "Well Vawp we'd appreciate it then if you join our circle and help protect Remment from the likes of Salem."

"As long as Ruby needs protecting from someone, I'll be there to help," I finish sighing softly.

Why do you always wish to protect that girl?

Because I care about her

 Time Skip

     The tournament started as Ozpin was explaining everything but I left a bit after the tournament was going on so I decided to head to the festival for information if there was any that I could acquire.

      All the information I did acquire was the usual about how crime is down and no one is even stepping out to start a simple robbery. I groan a little as I walk more towards the entrance of the fair and step into a hiding place.

     I slide my mask off and place it in my pocket before stepping back into the crowd. I use a fake smile and start walking towards the center before I see Ruby jumping into the air, I chuckle softly at the sight and start heading towards her.

     As I close in I hear Blakes stomach and stop dead in my track, WOW she must be hungry to make a noise like that. After that sound, I walk up and wrap my arms around Ruby waist and place my chin on her head asking calmly, "Hungry fellas?"
