Life is like a chairlift: you can move quickly forwards, slowly, at a stop, but you can't move backwards because Its a guarantee to be a disaster.
What I am trying to say, is that although you feel that everything is moving backwards, you aren't. If you take a step forwards, in the right direction, you'll find that all you were doing was standing still.
So that is why I urge you to take a small step forward, because right now you are standing in the middle of a busy road in New York (and its busy. So accidents do happen..). Take it easy, cars will stop to let you pass, They will help you on your way. Others like you (or not) will be walking with you, around you, alongside you, to keep you safe.
-And before you know it you'll be safely on the other side of the road.
