"Hello, beautiful," George greeted me when I got to the park the next morning.  "You're looking as wonderful as ever."

"You too, George." Really? That's the best I could manage? I couldn't have said something a bit sweeter than that?

"I want to show you something." He pulled me over to a bench near the edge of the park. "Look what I just bought." He took a guitar out of a case and showed it to me.

"Wow, George. That's really nice. It looks...expensive."

"It was. But I love to play, so what the heck?"

"I didn't know you could play," I said.

"It's one of my many talents," he winked. "Here, let me show you."

He jumped up to the platform that was built for bands to perform on. He plugged the electric guitar into the amplifier and started strumming.

"There is a mermaid in the sea, her eyes are dark as blue.

And sailors say they only see her when a storm is due.

She stretches out her loving arms and looks so innocent

But the men who need her never live a minute to repent.

She's a blue eyed mermaid from the deep blue sea.

The answer to a lonely sailors' dream

When she combs her golden hair,

You'll hear thunder in the air.

The blue eyed mermaid in the deep blue sea.

The flying dutchmen sails the seas and deep down in her hole

You'll find the souls of sailors who were lonely, brave and bold.

They listened to the mermaid as she sang her melody

Now their bones are resting deep down on the bottom of the sea.

She's a blue eyed mermaid from the deep blue sea.

The answer to a lonely sailor's dream.

When she combs her golden hair

You'll hear thunder in the air.

The blue eyed mermaid in the deep blue sea.

So sailormen men be weary when the mermaid calls to you

Cuz when you're looking in her eyes, here's what she'll do to you:

She'll gather you into her arms and kiss you tenderly

And you'll never leave the bottom of the deep blue sea

She's a blue eyed mermaid from the deep blue sea

The answer to a lonely sailors dream

When she combs her golden hair

You'll hear thunder in the air.

The blue eyed mermaid in the deep blue sea.

The blue eyed mermaid in the deep, blue, sea."

He had attracted a small crowd. The blue-eyed mermaid...when she combs her golden hair...oh my...he's singing about me! I'm the blue-eyed mermaid...

"Did you like it, love?" he asked when he unplugged his guitar from the amp.

"Like it? I loved it! You are really good, George!"
