I awoke early on Saturday morning from the sound of the rain outside my window. I turned on my side, facing the window, and watched as the little droplets raced down the glass. I suddenly realized that I'm late for work and quickly sat up. Then I remembered the date. May 3rd. I don't have to work today, today is my seventeenth birthday.

I layed back down and as I was about to sleep again, I heard my door open. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Paul shouted and jumped on my bed. I sat up and started laughing at him. He hugged me tightly and dragged me out to the kitchen, where I saw George sitting, eating a pancake, and John was sat across from him.

"George! I told you to wait for Eleanor before you ate anything!" Paul said.

"Sorry," he apologized. Paul, John and I just laughed. I sat in the chair next to George and Paul sat next to John. I saw that someone, most likely Paul, made a breakfast of pancakes, and more pancakes. We all had some and saved the rest for Poppy and Mike.

"So, are you ready to see what we all got you?" John asked.

"You didn't have to get me anything," I said, feeling kind of bad about it.

"Nonsense!" he exclaimed. From under the table, he pulled out a flat, square-shaped object that was wrapped in a newspaper and handed it to me from across the table. I unwrapped it and saw that it was a notebook with drawings and little stories. "I wrote a book for you!" he said proudly. I laughed at this and walked over to him to hug him and thank him.

"I got you something too El, but it's outside, so come on," Paul said and started walking to front door. We all followed him and outside, sitting in the driveway, was a purple bicycle. I turned and faced my cousin. "You got me this?" I asked excidedly.

"Yeah. You don't have your own and you're always using mine, so, I thought it would be a nice thing to get," he told me.

"Thank you!" I wrapped my arms around his neck. "But you didn't have to get me anything, really."

"But, I wanted to." I sat on the thing and rode around the street. It's really a great bike, and I can't wait to ride it more. I finally got off of it and put it in the garage.

"I have something for you too, love," George stood behind me and whispered in my ear, "Meet me at the park tonight."

I turned around and smiled at him as I nodded my head. Paul called for us to come back inside because it started raining harder. Hopefully the rain will stop before tonight when I have to meet George at the park.

John and George stayed at my house for the whole day, and we didn't do much really. John read us his favourite stories from the book he wrote for me and entertained us by reading the dialogue in funny voices. Richard called me at some point to tell me happy birthday. At around sixteen o'clock the rain stopped and they went home, and Paul and I went up to my room and fixed up the guitar I bought for George. I tuned the strings, since it's been in my closet for a month, and Paul rubbed some shining oil on it to clean the dust off. When we were finished, I attatched the strap I bought and carefully set it in the case, put the extra guitar strings in there and closed it.

I left it on my bed and went to the closet to find something nice to wear. I had a sleeveless red, white and blue striped dress, more of a nautical design, but it's really nice and I like that fashion along with the hippie clothes I usually wear. I braided my long hair and put my head band around my head. By the time I was done doing all of that, the sun had gone down and it was time for me to meet George at the park. I thought about riding my new bicycle there, but then I remembered, there's a lot of pot holes in the street, and it''s dark so I might trip on one. So I picked up the guitar case and started walking down the street to the park, where I saw George sitting by the fountain in the same place as the first time we had a picnic.
