For the Love of a Bad Boy

CHAPTER 28

It's the end of the week and it's time to go back, a week in this paradise with my wonderful husband was absolutely amazing. We made our way back home and it's good to be home, he carries me over the threshold dramatically and gives me a kiss. It's Sunday so tomorrow is work, I stayed in touch of course, Nicki and Max are coming over for dinner tonight and so is Shane's brother. I convinced him to make peace and it turns out Derrick has a new girlfriend Jess, we look forward to meeting her, my brother and Maya are in too.

Helena has offered to unpack and I'm grateful, I decided to cook for everyone. I make a roasted leg of lamb with gravy, roasted vegetables and crushed potatoes with dill. I made a chilli butternut soup for a starter, not too hot with toasted bruschetta. I made some chocolate mousse topped with cream and strawberries. A feast. And I haven't been sick in two days and I feel good. Shane has been working since we got back, there's some problem with shipments, they finally have the person responsible, and a rival small time gang hit the warehouse while they were making a deal, so I haven't seen him for most of the day it's still a bit early and I take him a beer. I stand by his office door he sees me and smiles I take him his beer quietly so I don't disturb his phone call. I hear him say all the clubs are doing well, the one that is being rebuilt is opening soon.

"I don't know what you are doing in the kitchen, but our house smells heavenly", Shane says as he ends his call.

I answer, "everything is done, just time for us to get ready everyone is arriving at six thirty so we don't have much time. We have a quick shower canoodling and having a bit of fun. Helena said she will set the table for me and I can choose some wines for our guests when I am done. I put on a plain blue cocktail dress and blue ballet pumps with a cute satin bow. I put my hair up an a pony tail and put on just mascara and a pink lipstick and little diamond studs. Shane wears a black jean and blue shirt. We laugh because are matching unintentionally.

We make our way down stairs and I put out some red and white wine also some beer for the men and sparkling water for myself. Everyone is starting to arrive, soon all of us are standing around chatting and the girls want to see all of our pictures of the wedding, we have albums, but Shane puts it on the TV for everyone to see as well as our honeymoon pictures which are amazing. I disappear to heat up the soup and toast the bruschetta. I add finishing touches of a little cream on top with some greenery. I call everyone to the table and our starter is served. Shane is serving everyone the wine. We all settle and have the first course, "Ally baby, this is lovely", Shane says smiling.

I can cook, I'm just lazy to do it, Shane cooks mostly. "Thanks baby" I answer the starter went down well everyone is shocked I can cook. I call on my beloved twin, "Bradford Draven tell everyone I am an excellent cook".

Brother to the rescue, "actually she is, she used to take care of us growing up, missed your home cooking sis", I wink at him. Derek looks nervous but Jess is chatting up a storm. I don't really like her, there's something so off putting, she's trying way to hard. Derek is actually a bit of a player and Shane doesn't like it, he was telling me he has given Derek some responsibility in the business, he needs to earn his money now not rely on Shane.

"Derek how did you two meet?" I ask trying to out him at ease.

Derrick starts telling me, something about shopping and we have a good conversation. I announce, "excuse me, I am just going to bring in our next course".

Helena and me get the lamb, roasted veg and potatoes and gravy to the table. Shane is topping up the wine, how I miss it. "Ally this is so good", Nicki compliments me.

"Thank you Nicki", I say genuinely happy.

Derek pipes up, "beautiful and a good cook, Bro you scored".
