I got out of the car and everyone started to follow.

"No," I said, "it's too dangerous."

Heather rolled her eyes.

"James, stop trying to be the hero and let us help."

"Yeah James remember? We're doing this for Jane," Billy piped up, smiling.

I grinned and started walking again. If I had to save the president from certain destruction, I was glad that this was my team. No one could top them.

When we got to the door, the guard stopped us.

"Name and I.D. please?" the man asked.

"James Smith."

"Jack Smith."

"Billy Pock."

"Heather Calck."

"Kenny Calck."

Kenny, Heather, and I had our driver’s licenses, but Billy and Jack had nothing.

"Sorry kids no entrance without I.D."

"Wait! I have my school I.D, from 2009," Billy yelled pulling a card out of his pocket. "Does this count?"

"Sure, that's fine."

“You’ve saved that after all these years?” I asked

He shrugged his shoulders.

“Semaj made me hold onto it. I don’t know what he reason was though.”

Jack looked depressed.

"But I don't have anything. I'm only 6!"

The man sighed and shrugged his shoulders.

"Fine.”

Jack squealed in delight before running to the door.

"Wait a minute young man. I need to know why you are here first."

"Look, Greg is it?" I asked reading his name tag, "We don't have a lot of time to explain. The president is in trouble and we can save him."

Greg raised his eyebrows at me.

"Do you think I'm stupid? You really think that I'm just going to let a bunch of random strangers just walk into the white house claiming to 'save' the president. How do I know you're not going to assassinate him?"

“Please Greg. This evil group is going to try to murder the president. They’ve already killed my wife. I don’t want anyone else dead tonight.”

He considered this for a moment, but shook his head.

“Sorry, no can do.”

I gave Kenny an alarmed look. He gave me a reassuring smile.

“Alright then. Have a nice day sir,” Kenny said before turning away.

I glanced at Heather. She shrugged her shoulders and started to follow him.

“Wait!” Greg called out. “May I speak to the lady in private for a moment?”

Heather stayed behind for a bit. Kenny motioned for me and the boys to follow him. He led us to the side of the building. We waited there for Heather. She showed up five minutes later, blushing a bit.

“What was that about?” I asked.

“He asked for my number.” The blush on her cheeks became a deep red.

“Anyways,” Kenny interrupted. “I figured since there are so many of us, we could lift each other through the windows.”

“Good idea,” Billy said.

I hoisted Heather into the air. Her hands just reached the windowsill, and she pulled herself up and through the window. Next, I helped Kenny up. I held Billy in the air, and Kenny pulled him through. We did the same with Jack. Kenny and Heather were able to pull me up together. We started to wander through the halls, looking for the president’s office. Occasionally we had to dodge a guard or two.

We searched for half an hour before we took a break. Looking at my watch, I realized what little time we had left.

"Guys, I don't want to alarm you or anything, but we only have half an hour left."

Heather had a look of determination in her eyes.

"Well then let's go. I think we should split up. I'll take Billy and Jack, and you can go with Kenny."

Everyone agreed and we set off. I decided to try to get to know Kenny better.

"So are you and Heather married?" I asked.

"No. We get that a lot actually. We're siblings. When our parents died we moved away from city life to get some fresh air."

"I was wondering why you didn’t seem that upset when Greg asked for Heather’s number before.”

An awkward silence filled the air for a while. I spotted a door that caught my attention.

"Hey Kenny, I think that's it over there."

Suddenly, Kenny's phone started to buzz. He read whatever was on the screen and his face fell.

"That was Heather. She said she saw a helicopter outside the window," he whispered. "The RHW is coming."
