Adventure no. 1

The dramatic fall and wet Susan...

Written by @Jadewritesastory and @susanherondale

"Hey Jade! Wait up!" Susan shouted from behind me. I kept walking. How kind am I?

She ran up beside me, puffing.

"Didn't you hear me?"

I stayed silent and Susan huffed.

"You notice I'm always the disadvantage one, don't you?"

I looked at her curiously.

"What do you mean?"

"My sister decides it's fun to open her drink bottle lid when we are going over speed bumps in the car. Who get's wet? Me. And I wasn't even sitting next to her! It was you! How did the water just bounce over you and hit me?!"

She stopped to catch her breath. Running and ranting do not mix.

"Why is it always me who gets wet?!"

"You just attract the water Susie. You have a magnetic pull around you that-"

"I don't need the science, Jade."

"Fiiinnnne..."

"And what about that time we were on the games field doing that falling thing? I fall, you catch me. You fall, I catch you. That's how it works. Then we walked around for a bit and I was like 'Catch me Jade!' and you didn't."

"Well, in all fairness, I did actually say I wouldn't catch you. You were like 'catch me Jade!' and I was like 'No! Catch yourself!' and then you just fell over knowing full well I was not going to catch you."

"Well, part of being a good friend is being there for me. You. Were. Not."

"Hmph. Well, at least you learnt not to trust me. Wait, that's not a good thing, is it?"

"Uh, no."

I shrugged.

"Well, hopefully you won't fall over again."

At this point in time, we came to a stray brick edging along the side of the path. Our shortcut required us to step over it, or in Susan's case, trip over it.

"Oph!"

Well, this was a disaster waiting to happen.

Susan, had of course, tripped over this brick ledge onto the gravel. We both burst out laughing.

"Ok, note to self. Never talk about falling over with Susie."

P.O.V.

Why does this always happen to me? I think I must be cursed or something. I attempt to get up, but is weighed down by my bag, which much weigh at least a thousand tons.

"A little help, please."

Jade just laughs. Nice friend she is. She extends her arm out for me, and I take it. This feels like a symbolic rite or something. The Acceptance of the Extended Hand. Nice.

"Why is it always me?!?" I groan, as Jade helps me up, "I'm not even the one with the retarded legs."

Back on my feet, I brush off the dirt on my skirt and my injured pride, failing miserably. I look around quickly to see if anyone has noticed. Nope. No one seems to be looking. Thank goodness for that. I'm the kind of person that trips over everything. I even jam my toe in drawers and bang my head on a door because I'm standing behind it. I pick out some bits of gravel from the graze in my hand.

"I'm probably going to die from tetanus, now." I sigh.

Jade just laughs.
