The Afternoon Tea Club is faced with a Dilemma
And this Dilemma is so serious that it has been turned into a capitalised Proper Noun to convey its seriousness. This is no laughing matter. LOL.
The weekly rituals of the Afternoon Tea Club is to hide away in the school boarding house's secret piano room for two and a half hours. We then smuggle in hot chips, soft drink and our laptops (which would all be confiscated if found). Some background piano music from Susan (bringer of background music), some edibles and deliciousness from Jade (bringer of food) and an anime dvd brought by Luschka (bringer of entertainment) and watched on her laptop. All of this contributes to a very enjoyable afternoon. We should have known that it was too good to be true, that it couldn't last forever, week after week.
The Dilemma is this: We were caught. By an angry house-mistress. We were told that the piano room was no longer our place to hang out and eat staggering amounts of food. No, we were told that we can only hang out... in the COMMON ROOM!!! (Cue dramatic music – dun, dun, DUN!!!)
Before we go any further, I must explain something about our school environment. You see, it is a boarding school full of girls who are, how do I put this nicely, extremely fond of their food. In a desperate attempt to convince the house-mistress to let us stay in our little hideaway, we tried to explain that if we took any food into the common room, there would be swarms. That is not an exaggeration, swarms. Swarms of teenage girls who can hear a packet of biscuits being opened from a kilometre away. It would be impossible.
The house-mistress then had the nerve to suggest that we maybe we shouldn't bring food. That was met with dead silence. I wish her good luck with that.
So, that is the Dilemma that we face. Our cosy little hideout has been snatched from under our noses, and we now face the problem of having no secret place to eat our food. It feels as if they've taken away the very core of the Afternoon Tea Club. Like they've taken away our souls....
