The next week, I avoided Sophie like the plague for the next few days. But that doesn't mean Kyle didn't try to be all boyfriend like. If you'd told me about this, my freshman year, I would've swooned about it. As of now, I just want to act like the kiss never happened. I'm not even quite sure why it happened or why I agreed to it. During photography class that week, Cody kept blowing me off and not in his usual way. Finally, on Friday I sat in front of Cody.
"What happened Cody? I thought we were good at the game last Friday. Now you're acting like nothing even happened. " I stare at him even though he pays me no mind...at first.
"Because nothing did happen. Don't kid yourself we are not friends." He snaps his head up.
"Look, pal, everyone's lost someone or something. That doesn't give you the right to be an ass hat. Grow up." I roll my eyes. I start to walk off.
"You don't even know." He mutters under his breath.
"Then tell me," I say to him.
"Hmph." He simply says.
I walk out of the classroom and to the women's bathroom where I run into Sophie. When I first see her, I stop abruptly. She keeps applying her lipstick in the mirror, not acknowledging me.
"So...word got around that you and Kyle are a thing." She says as she twists the tube of cherry red back into the signature Revlon lipstick tube.
"We aren't a thing. We did kiss though. Sophie, I betrayed you and I'm sorry. I feel guilty." I explain.
"This hurt Lizzie Tay. This hurt...you knew I liked him." Sophie sighs.
