-Part 2: The light within-
I placed my laptop on top of my desk. I ran a hand through my long, brown hair again and nodded, pretending to listen."Anyways, I can't wait to see you at the welcome home party tomorrow. That really sucked not being able to talk to you for all of July. Tough luck that your phone broke at the same time as your laptop got stolen." Cody sighs through the web camera. He's leaving from London tonight.
"Yeah absolutely." I lie and stare at the sticker near the mouse that has been there since eighth grade and out of the corner at my eye at the iPhone that I've had since my sophomore year.
"So will your dad be at the party tomorrow?" Cody asks.
"About that. My dad and I have this thing so we can't make it tomorrow." I look away.
"Oh...shoot...well no matter. I'll see you the next day then." He shrugs.
"Oh yeah." I nod.
"Okay, I should finish packing. I can't wait to show you the photos I took. I love you, Lizzie." He smiles.
"Love you too. Goodnight." I hang up the video call. I sigh and lean back in my chair. Out of the corner of my eye, I see dad staring at me from the doorway.
"Haven't told him yet huh?" Dad says solemnly.
"Dad...I can't do it. What if...what if he dumps me or says he doesn't love me?" Tears start to roll down my face. Dad comes over and holds me as I cry.
"Then he's an idiot. I love you, Lizzie Tay. You're a special girl. It's best to tell him the truth early on. It will only hurt more if you do it later." Dad consoles.
-3 days later-
I tugged the hood of my black sweatshirt before exiting the drug store. My phone alerted me that I had fifteen unread texts from Cody. I've been avoiding him completely. As I walk towards the parking lot I bump into someone."I'm so sorry." I apologize.
"Lizzie..." Cody scowls.
"Uh, Cody...hi," I say awkwardly.
"What the actual hell Lizzie?! I've been calling and texting you and no reply?! It's driving me crazy. If you don't want to be with me anymore then fucking have the decency to say it to my face." He crosses his arms. He looks down at the phone in my hand. "Huh That sure as hell doesn't look broken to me...whatever." He brushes past me.
"Cody wait I can explain why I avoided you....but I need to talk to you alone," I call after him.
"Well, this should be good." He mutters. We go to his parked mustang and sit in it, awkardly.
"First off, I still love you a lot...but I think...I'm afraid you won't love me after I tell you something I've been hiding," I say calmly.
"You cheated." He narrows his eyes.
