How can it be that the great
nation of liberty was
founded on cold slavery.
Now today there are those that
are the working poor, zombies
to the markets hungry maw.
Step forward the caring men
righteous in their legal stance
defenders of rights equal.
President Obama wants
all to earn a living wage,
a worthy nation giving.
To people, the right to work,
to live, not to beg to eat,
nor pursuit of life’s last dreg.
Ed Murray raised the basic
wage, gave folks self respect, lives
to live, not empty neglect.
The right wing outraged cries foul
let the market decide what
rights; slippery downward slide.
Non are born equal in that
land of liberty, yet all
lip serve; equal rights worthy.
