"all i want to be is somebody to you,"

I sat on the kitchen counter with my feet dangling in the air. I kicked them back and forth like a little kid as I watched Luke make breakfast. Although he was the guest at my house, he insisted that he make breakfast. I had never really taken him for a cooking kind of guy, but he hadn't lit anything on fire yet so I guess he was alright. My eyes drifted to the window where all I could see was a pile of snow sitting untouched on the ledge outside. It ended up snowing sometime overnight, but I hadn't noticed until that moment. There was no denying that snow was beautiful. It was just too cold for me. I always dreamed about moving somewhere warm. I'd find a good job. I'd eventually get married, and these dreams seemed as though they were falling into place. As I looked at Luke, everything felt right. The more I thought about it, the more I could see it. My mind flooded with thoughts of him and I together. We had only been dating for a few months, but I could just see it. Nothing had ever mattered to me the way Luke did. All I wanted was him. The future seemed so much more appealing than it used to. Everyone always dreams of becoming rich, but the only thing that I was concerned about was whether or not I'd have Luke by my side. He was everything to me, and I thought we could make it. I could've gotten used to waking up every morning next to him. I could've gotten used to him standing in only his boxers making breakfast. I could've been with him forever and not minded. He still finds a way to keep me up all night.

He turned on his heel and began to walk towards me. He held two plates in his hand: one for me and one for him. We ate in a comfortable silence, and I had to say that I was extremely impressed. Luke was actually a good cook. It was both good and bad. It was good because it was delicious. It was bad because I couldn't tease him about sucking at cooking. Well, I could've, but I would've been lying.

"Thank you for that," I said as I hopped down from the counter and began to clean the dishes that laid in the sink. "You really didn't have to make me breakfast. You're the guest. I should be doing something for you."

"Trust me, you did last night," He replied with a cheeky smile and a wink.

"Lucas," I gaped as I smacked his arm.

"Christmas came early I guess because-"

"Oh my God. Stop talking about it," I laughed as I clamped a hand over his mouth. "You don't hear me discussing how I thought you were."

I rolled my eyes at the amusement present in his own eyes. He wiggled his eyebrows at me, and I did my best to bite back the laugh that was trying to force its way out. It was moments like those that I loved. It showed that Luke wasn't just my boyfriend. Things hadn't completely changed when we decided to get together. He still remained one of my best friends, and we weren't afraid to tease each other. Even in situations that might be a little bit awkward, we were able to push through it just by joking the way we used to. It took him mumbling against my hand to push me from my thoughts. I removed it quickly so he could repeat it.
