Lila was on the verge of stripping down to her underwear when she heard a shrill noise from behind her. Both she and Vic spun round in confusion to find the source.

"Shit," Vic swore under his breath as his eyes fell upon Jessica, marching towards the two of them with a murderous expression.

"When did she get here?" Lila muttered, amused by how enraged the girl looked for no apparent reason. Did she have some kind of aversion to public nudity?

"Vic Jarvis what the hell do you think you're doing?" she yelled once she was close enough to be within earshot.

"I could ask you the same thing, Jess," Vic fired back angrily. Jessica eventually reached them at the water's edge and took up a confrontational stance with her arms folded sulkily across her chest.

"Well I'm not the one stood half-naked next to this slut," she spat out maliciously, shooting Lila a look sharp enough to kill.

"Um, excuse me?" Lila demanded feistily. "I don't see what any of this has to do with being a slut and I also don't see what any of this has to do with you," she argued, still at a loss as to why Jessica was so mad.

"Don't act all innocent. We all know exactly what you're trying to do here," Jessica hissed.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Lila retorted, amused by this ridiculous accusation.

"I'm talking about you trying to steal my boyfriend!" Jessica yelled. Lila paused for a moment, processing what she'd just said. Then, slowly, a smile spread across her face which turned into a laugh, and soon she couldn't stop herself giggling uncontrollably.

"You...and Vic?" she choked out between laughs, "You think I'm...oh my god..."

"I don't know what you think is so funny here but I'm deadly serious," Jessica snapped, getting more irritated by the second.

"Why would I be trying to steal him off you? This isn't middle school, Jessica," Lila scoffed, wiping a tear from the corner of her eye now she'd finally stopped laughing.

"You're standing next to my boyfriend in nothing but jeans and a bra and you're trying to tell me that you're not trying to mess with me?" she demanded, looking Lila up and down with a disgusted expression.

"Well your boyfriend is also standing half-naked next to me so obviously my evil plot is working," Lila whispered provocatively. Jessica's eyes flashed with anger and she lunged towards her, only to be held back by Vic.

"God, Jess, just calm the fuck down. Nothing's going on here," he said in an exasperated tone, as if this happened a lot.

"Nothing? You call this nothing?" she yelled, her voice getting more shrill with every word. Lila just rolled her eyes at the pair of them and started walking away, but Jessica caught her arm.

"Hey, we're not done here!" she said angrily.

"Look, you two have obviously got your issues but this is nothing to do with me," Lila sighed, suddenly feeling exhausted from all this petty drama.

"If you walk away I'll...I'll..." Jessica threatened, desperately trying to come up with some ominous consequences.

"You'll what? Steal my boyfriend?" Lila suggested, raising an eyebrow provocatively before turning her back and walking away from the scene. She heard Jessica let out a scream of frustration but didn't care enough to look back. She walked casually back over to the group of lacrosse guys who had been watching the whole scene as if watching a trashy movie. As she got closer, she noticed that a few of the guys were now staring at her and she suddenly remembered that she still wasn't wearing a shirt. Oops.
