Chapter Eighteen

After standing still for ten minutes, I gradually opened my eyes and taking deep breaths.

Once again I peered into the box at the written message in blood.

I swallowed the bile that was trying to push its way up my throat.

I stared at the heart that was oozing blood.

I let out a shaky breath, from what I know sending a heart to someone is a death threat or close to one.

I noticed an envelope stuffed down the side.

I gulped and shakily raised my hand and slowly reached for it.

Once I got it out without touching the heart, I’m telling myself that it is an animal.

I ripped open the letter and some photos fell out. My mouth fell open and no sound could come out, what.

They were pictures of my mum tied up her eyes were closed but she looked tired and she had multiple bruises all over her. I started reading the letter:

Dearest Arianne,

I want you. I know you wouldn’t come to me and I can’t take you without your friends getting involved so I thought I would tell you I have your mother and auntie.

If you want to keep them alive, meet me tonight at eight o’clock in your school.

I look forward to seeing you but don’t you worry your pretty little head of yours I’m not going to kill you.

If you tell anyone you are meeting me I will kill them and make you suffer.

Don’t be late; I can’t wait to finally meet you.

Peter Hernandez.

“Oh my god.” I was still standing there I had to go meet him he can’t kill my mum and auntie because of me. I looked over at the clock two thirty.

I have six hours “I can do this.” I told myself and waited.

I ran upstairs putting the box under my bed, remembering to clean it away once I was done.

I changed into a pair of black skinny jeans, a tight, long sleeved black t-shirt and my black converse.

I laughed to myself I looked like I was about to rob a bank, but hopefully they won’t see me in the dark. I looked at the clock again six ten. I frowned, I have been up here for four hours, the guys came and checked on me when they came home and that was it.

I wrote a note and put it on my pillow hopefully by the time they have come in here and read it we will have gone.

I nodded my head, pulled my hair in a high pony and went downstairs. I popped my head around the living room door so they wouldn’t see me dressed.

“Hey guys, I'm really tired and not feeling too great so I'm going to bed and get some sleep, I will see you all in the morning. Goodnight.”

There was a chorus of goodnights thank god they were all to engrossed in whatever they were doing.

I sighed, grabbed my car keys and went outside.

“Crap.” I was stuck they would hear the engine.

So I decided to run there and they would probably notice my car gone before I was gone. I ran down the road out of breath, I could see the school now. I looked on my phone, it was eight fifty, and it took me at least an hour to run here.
