The city of Trost looks so small from the top of the wall. It seems like the whole city could fit in the palm of my hand.

"What?! You're gonna join the Survey Corps?!" I jump at Eren's sudden exclamation.

"Connie, you're number nine, right? Shouldn't you join the Military Police?!"

"Naturally, that's the wiser choice, but still!" It seems like Connie is defending himself, but he seems to be defending Eren more than anyone.

"Looks like your speech last night had an effect on him." A tall boy with blonde hair and sideburns stands next to Eren.

"No!" Connie shouts, "It... it was Jean! I don't want to be in the same branch as that bastard! That's it!"

"Pardon me, but..." We turn to Sasha, who had just returned. She's hiding something in her jacket. "I borrowed a little meat from the senior officers' private stock." She opens her jacket and takes out a large chunk of meat.

"Sasha, are you crazy?!" I shout, "You could get thrown into solitary for that!"

"Let's split it up... slice it between some bread..." Her mouth starts to water and I cover my ears, "No way! I'll never hear the end of it if my brother found out I ate stolen meat!"

"Put it back!" Connie shouts.

"That's right!" A girl with black hair tied into low pigtails steps into the conversation, "Ever since our territory shrank, meat has become incredibly precious!"

"Don't worry," Sasha says as she puts the meat into one of the wooden crates atop the wall, "Once we recapture our territory, we'll be able to keep more cows and sheep again."

"I see." The blond-haired boy says, smiling. "It'll be like a celebration in anticipation of recapturing wall Maria. Once we eat it, we'll prepare ourselves for the worst!"

After he says that, all the other cadets atop the wall start joining in, saying that they'd like a piece of meat as well. I smile at them, but I remain silent and continue to clean the cannons.

A large burst of light comes from the opposite side of the wall, creating a wall of smoke taller than any structure.

As we look up, a large face, just bare muscle, is peering down at us. I recognize this, it's the Colossal Titan.

It's large arm swings across the wall, wiping out the cannons. I jump off the wall and dig my anchor into the side to keep myself from falling.

I glance around, and everyone is still here.

I put my hand to my chest in an attempt to calm my racing heartbeat. A titan. The Colossal Titan. Is standing right on the other side of this wall.

I glance to my side and Eren is running up the wall, trying to make his way to the top. I shout at him to stop, but he keeps running. There's so much going on, I can't keep track of all the countless events. The gate has been broken and titans have now invaded the city. That seems to be the priority at the time.

I stay there, frozen to the wall, unable to move an inch. How long has it been? Minutes? Seconds? It feels like years, yet it all happened so fast. And almost as quickly as it had appeared, the Colossal Titan is gone. Vanished into thin air.

We're now standing on top of the wall, just like before, but I'm not sure how I got here. The whole event moves along in a blur.

A Garrison soldier runs up to us, "What are you trainees doing?!" He shouts at us, "The strategy for dealing with a Colossus titan appearance is already in motion! Report your posts on the double! And if any of you came in contact with the Colossus, report to HQ immediately!"
