I turn back to looking at the road. Better to make sure that all of that work Rain did doesn't go to waste with me swerving off the road and killing us all.
"So I'm guessing S.H.I.E.L.D. taught you that?" I ask.
"Actually, I taught myself that," Rain says.
"She's totally gloating," I hear Jack mumble behind me.
I smile. It's just like Jack to hold a grudge.
I take the next exit. Everything is going fine.
Until a man dressed all in black steps out into the road.
Seriously. What is with people these days?
His face is masked and he has goggles on. It's impossible to tell who he is or make out any features on his face.
I slam on the brake and out of the corner of my eye I see Rain's eyes widen in recognition.
That's when the man lifts a large gun and points it right at us.
A metal disc spins off of the end and glides down the road.
I hear it attach itself to the underside of our car.
That's when everything around us explodes.
