"Well it looks like you've got yourself a dilemma," Jack states. He's not as solemn as he should be though.

"She's in serious trouble, " I say, "her brother has some crazy firepower."

"Well it's not my fault if she gets burned."

That's when Rain cuts in, "So I save your life and this is what I get in return?! Just a 'have fun trying not to die at the hands of your brother!'"

She says the last sentence with sarcasm to make fun of him a little bit.

Jack does not like to be on the receiving end of things like that.

"You want to know how I see it girly?" he sneers, "I see it as when we met you is when things started going crazy and people started trying to kill us! You really think I want to get caught up in that?!"

Rain is not smiling and I feel as if any second she's going to lunge forward and seriously hurt Jack.

I'm about to intercede when Rain slowly let's the breath out of her body making it look like she's doing a kind of meditation.

"Fine," she says, calm now though you can still tell she's annoyed, "if you don't want to come with me, you don't have to."

She turns and starts to walk back to the town. She then mutters, "At least everyone will know that Jack Dalton is too scared to help someone when they need it."

I step back the slightest bit not wanting to be in the crossfire when Jack shoots her for that comment.

Surprisingly, Jack doesn't do that.

After a few seconds, he sighs and jogs to catch up to her.

"You know what? Fine. Just promise me one thing."

Rain shifts her gaze to Jack, waiting for him to tell her what he wants.

"You have to promise that Mac won't die in the process."

Rain grins.

"You really do have a soft heart Jack. I thought for sure you were going to ask for a Lamborghini."
