Mac stumbles back just the slightest bit in surprise but still holds on to my shoulders.

"What happened to him?" he asks.

I sigh. I hate having to tell this story.

"Years ago, I was probably about fifteen then, he was eighteen, we were told to go on a mission. Hydra had taken over a train full of explosives and they were going to crash it into New York. It would have leveled the city.

Anyway, it was just another mission. We had done a thousand of them before so we suited up and got in a helicopter.

We managed to make it to the train and jump on.

Everything was going fine. We were beating up bad guys and making our way to the engine room.

Until a man with a hazmat suit and a big machine gun barreled through the door in front of us.

He immediately started shooting at us.

My brother being the gallant one jumped in front of me with a big sheet of metal for a makeshift shield. I don't even know where he got it.

Everything went really crazy when a beam of light erupted and vaporized the wall next to us.

Caught off guard by the sudden burst of wind, my brother fell out of the train and was hanging on to a rail that had come part way off of the train.

I managed to take out the man with the gun and went to the opening to help my brother.

Unfortunately, he was just out of my reach. He ended up falling about 80 feet.

I thought for sure he was dead.

I managed to save New York and went back to S.H.I.E.L.D.  trying to move on without my brother.

A few years later, a man people called the Winter Soldier started murdering important officials.

I was told to track him down. But I only ever found him once.

I figured out he was my brother while we were exchanging blows. But at the same time he wasn't my brother. He had been brainwashed by Hydra. He didn't even know I was his sister."

This is where I pause and I feel a tear run down my face. I wipe it away, trying to hide the fact that I was crying in the first place before I continue.

"But what was even worse was the fact that his left arm was now made of metal.

Apparently when he fell, he lost his left arm. Hydra replaced it and brainwashed him to turn him into a killing machine."

"So is that why he was trying to kill us?" Jack asks skeptically.

"I don't think you guys were his target. I think he was there to kill me."
