holy crap, it has been forever since I wrote in this book. Well, sorry for the long wait for a new part here.
You had never been a lazy or scared child, you would play with any snakes you found in the garden, you would climb trees no matter how unstable they were, but you always had a strange, unreasonable fear of the forest. Ever since you were no more than three things like camping trips and even going near small groups of trees would make you cry, and while you grew out of throwing a tantrum whenever you saw a thicket of trees, you always held that terror inside, trying not to show it. By the time you were ten you had mastered the facade of calmness when you were in or near the woods, the only people you told of your phobia where your best friends, who, while not the most supportive at first, they kept your embarrassing secret and grew out of teasing you. They even tried to help you overcome your fear of the large areas of trees.
So, one night when (bff name) had invited you and the others over for a sleepover at her father's house, she failed to mention that he lived within walking distance of a small forest. You didn't know, and when they told you, you brushed it off. As long as you didn't see the trees for too long, you were fine. However, your friends grew bored of staying in the yard or house after a few hours, and they decided to take you for a walk.
"Come on! We'll only have to walk by the trees, we won't go into them." (bff2/n) said reassuringly, taking your hand and nearly dragging you down the path, which changed from a well-beaten dirt path to a nearly invisible path that was barely shown through the prongs of green grass that caught your shoes as you walked with your friends. When the woods came into view, your heart raced, your blood slowly turned to ice the closer you got to the trees. Their branches reached out for you like gnarled talons waiting to shred you to bits, the wind rustling their leaves made your mind reel with images of little monsters scurrying about on their thin branches, eyeing you like dinner, but despite your panicked pleas, your friends dragged you forward,
"Don't be scared, this will help you! I heard that facing your fears head-on will help to relieve them." (bff3/n) said, patting your shoulder when you gave them a frightened, tearful look.To make things worse, the sun was beginning to go down, dipping its head drowsily below the horizon, its warm light beginning to fade and give away to the warped shadows of night that danced between trunks and branches, catching your feet with thorny claws as you stumbled through thickets of brambles, tripping over the demons' quick feet, nearly crashing multiple times into the thick, coarse bark of trunks in front of you. Eventually, Your friends dragged you into a clearing, sitting you down while your breath shook and came out in short bursts as you fought off a panic attack as your eyes nervously scanned the shadowy spots in between the branches and trees. Did your eyes deceive you, or had those thickets of bushes a short distance away shook stronger than they should've in the wind?
(bff1/n) squeezed your hand comfortingly when they saw the tears that were streaming down your fear filled face. The other friends who were there all sat in a semi-circle around you, holding a normal conversation to keep your mind off of being in the middle of a forest. It worked for a bit, and you could feel your heart begin to calm a tad bit, but it would pick up the pace once more whenever you would hear that familiar noise. The sound of leaves shaking forcefully, getting closer, and closer, but you tried to brush it aside, attempting to keep your blood pressure lower and keep calm.
As time passed, your friends began to grow quiet, seeming to grow nervous.
"Come on, it's getting late," Bff1/n) said, getting up and helping the others up before glancing around anxiously, their (e/c) eyes as wide as your own (e/c) orbs. They must've noticed the lack of wind and that persistent rustling. You thought, brushing your (clothing of choice) off as you thought. Sadly, your thoughts were interrupted when your friends all shrieked, their eyes staring at a spot behind you. Shakily, you forced your concrete muscles to work, quivering like a bowl of jello as you turned around to look at what they had seen, you instantly regretted it.the creature was crouching, his pasty, thin looking skin seeming to hug his bones, making him look gaunt and starving. His beady, soulless eyes glued to you while the flesh on his face sunk into his cheeks. You tried to look at the ground to tear your gaze away from the horrible, depressed look, but your eyes only fell on the long, deadly looking blades that were his fingers, each one dripping with dark blood, some having flesh that still clung to it.
Your stomach came out of your mouth in an instant and you doubled over. You heard your friends race off, their footsteps crunching frantically through the leaves, but the creature did not give chase, he seemed to wait for you. With tears in your eyes, your turned and began running through the trees, fighting the low branches, trying to dodge the thick roots that were adamant on tripping you, fueled by terror and adrenaline alone, you flew through the trees blindly, screaming like a dying bird as your heart banged in your ears. Sadly, the energy was not enough to last forever, you were now too far into the forest, the trees were getting thicker, locking out the moonlight that was growing slowly in the sky until you could hardly see your own hands in front of your face. Suddenly, you smashed into a tree, falling on your butt with your head throbbing with unending pain. Before you gave in to unconsciousness, you felt the warm breath of the creature on the back of your neck, not a second after you had hit the tree.
The police found your friends the next morning, all terrified and shaking, their eyes were puffy and red from crying. The policemen tried to console them as they told them about you, how you had never come out, but though the officers looked, your body was never found. the only sign of where you may have been was a spot where the bark had been crushed off of a tree trunk.
