I woke up when a faint beam of sunrays fell on my face. I stretched myself like a cat and greeted the morning. Well, that's not something that happens every day so I took my time to celebrate. "Good Morning," I heard a familiar voice. I smiled automatically and strong arms engulfed me and pulled me inside a warm, rich fragrance and best abs I'd ever seen. "Good morning," I said lazily. I can go back to sleep in these arms. "I'm sorry I made you wait," he said genuinely.
I planned on saying something like I didn't wait for you or don't flatter yourself, but something inside me didn't want to ruin this moment. "I didn't mind waiting for you. But next time, I'd rather be with you than wait for you," I meant it. I heard him laugh. "Being romantic?" He asked. "Nah. Just figured out it's Thanksgiving," I told him simply.
"Oh," he seemed lost. "By any means, no one can beat you at being cheesy," I tried to lighten the mood. I heard him chuckle. "Happy Thanksgiving, Dawn" he kissed my cheek. "Happy Thanksgiving, Cameron" I brushed his hands embracing me around the waist. If anyone had seen us they might have mistaken us for a real couple. The thought made me feel an emotion I couldn't put my finger on.
"You've bathed?" I noted. "Yeah. You missed the opportunity," he smirked. I elbowed him. "Ouch," he faked. "C'mon I didn't even hit that hard," I complained. "I'm dainty," he said innocently. I rolled my eyes and he started to tickle me. "Cameron... hahaha....stop it...hahaha...please," I laughed hysterically. He stopped.
"You're a Satan," I told him. "And you're my prey," he started to tickle me again. "Okay....just stop," I shouted between laughs. He looked so young when he's smiling. His hair was wet from the shower. "Get ready. We're playing baseball," he told me when I stopped laughing. "Baseball?" I looked at him in confusion. "Scared, Ms. Clayton?" he smirked. "For you, Baby Bear? Yes!" I pinched his cheek and went inside the bathroom.
I changed into jeans and a pullover. I pulled my hair up into a ponytail and made my way downstairs. The house was full of guests. They were laughing and chatting. I decided to head back to the room but Cameron grabbed my hand. "I want you to meet my family," he said looking at me with his flattering grey eyes. I sighed. "It won't be that bad. They are nice to me. I think they'll be nice to you too," he said with fake innocence. I laughed instantly.
"Come," he led me to the couch where so many people were already there. "And this is Dawn," he put his arm around my shoulder. "Hello. Nice to meet you all," I smiled politely. "Hello, Dawn. I'm Cameron's aunt. Helen," a lady with blonde hair greeted me. I met Cameron's Uncle Harris and baby cousin Mark. Clarissa made me sit while Cameron stood at the back, still holding my hand.
He was leaned forward so his face rested on my shoulder. "Hello. My name is Angela," an 8 years old girl greeted me. "Hello. Come here," I picked her up and made her sit on my lap. "You are Cameron's girlfriend," she said happily. I tried to answer that but Cameron spoke up. "Yes, Angel. Isn't she pretty?"
She nodded happily. "You look like Rupenzel. Can I braid your hair?" she asked me with her pretty blue eyes. "Angel, you shouldn't ask her that," Cameron frowned. "No, it's okay. You can and I can braid yours," I told her. "Really?" her eyes widened. "Yes, would you like that?" I asked her. "Yes. Thank you. I'll bring the comb," she ran to some room. "Thank You," Cameron whispered in my ears. I smiled. "Muffins," I heard Betty's voice. She offered us some. "These are so good," I told her. "Thank you, Dawn," Betty looked cheerful. "Who said it's good? See you overcooked them," Cameron teased.
"Shut up Cameron. These aren't for you anyway," Betty took the muffins away from him. Cameron pouted. Everyone laughed. Cameron's dad and his uncle were outside preparing for the baseball game. Cameron was helping them. Betty, Clarissa, and Helen were working in the kitchen. I was whisking the batter. Mark was sleeping soundly in the guestroom. Angela was braiding my hair. She looked busy.
