"She looks happy," I pointed.
Diana was talking to my family while I was sitting in the backyard with my other best friend.
"Because she is happy. She's been waiting for her whole life for you to notice her more than a best friend. At some point I thought you just took her for Betty," Xavier raised an eye.
"It wasn't that bad. Was it?" I said in horror."Cameron, you dated her friend but never looked at her. She used to think she wasn't good enough for you," he told and I frowned.
"How's that even possible? She's beautiful, elegant, smart, funny. She's the typical good girl who's a perfect wife material and do I need to mention Princess Perfect?" I said in disbelief.
"Guess we all seek approval from the person we love most," he shrugged.
"Guess you're right," I told him.I used to think I had everything a girl could ask for and yet...
"So what about Dawn?" He seemed to took notice. "I guess I just need to move on," I said with no emotion. Well, I'd be lying if I say it didn't hurt.
"And dating Diana will work?" he raised an eyebrow. "It has to. I should be loving the person who loves me not the one who doesn't," If only things were different. "I can't keep on ignoring her. I would have to go college in Feb. How am I even supposed to face her?" My biggest fear was out in open."You're just hurting yourself. And probably giving Diana false hope. You'll end up hurting both of you, Cameron," he said in concern. "I have to do something. It might work," I said hopefully but who was I kidding?
"Is this the same thing you said to yourself when you put yourself in this mess in the first place?" He said in disbelief. "No. It was more like It sounds crazy, let's try it. What could possibly go wrong?" Now I know answer to that. Everything!"It wasn't that bad. Yeah we were not the people who got along nicely. But it worked until I told her I had fallen in love with her. She might be thinking, 'Stupid Cameron. How could he possibly fall in love? And not to mention, Ladies man just don't miraculously turn into a boyfriend material. No doubt she didn't believe me," I took a sigh.
Xavier put a hand on my shoulder and frowned. Do I look that lovesick?
"Cameron, Xavier! Get in. Cookies are ready," Diana called. "What the hell took you so long? Kids are starving," Xavier exaggerated and Diana rolled her eyes at him. I laughed at my two best friends. If I was over protective, Xavier was the one who made Diana scream like she was being murdered. He would bring earthworms to her and she would punch him till he apologize. "Cameron, I made you chocolate truffle," Diana said with a smile. Her cheeks turned pink and I couldn't understand how I never noticed the obvious. And yet I call her my best friend. Wow Hardwick, you deserve a Nobel Prize in being ignorant, other than Physics, of course.
"Thank you, Diana. I appreciate it," I told her. "You're being way to formal with me, lately," she frowned. That caught me off guard. Am I?
"Missing my cockiness?" I smirked. She smiled but bit her lip. "Come," I took her hand and led her to the drawing room, where others were waiting.
***************
The week passed by. I and Diana went on another date. Things were going surprisingly well. I liked spending time with her. I do had fun with her. There were times when I miss Dawn but I pushed her thoughts away.
We kissed sometimes. More like goodnight or goodbye kisses or when we meet. They were always pecks or small kisses. We had another date. We went to bowling alley, the game I can easily beat her at. She told me how I was taking revenge for her beating me at that silly game. I won, of course. We had some hotdog and watched a movie. I dropped her at her home.
"Goodnight," I kissed her goodbye. Her hands moved around my neck and I picked her up. The things escalated from there as I pressed her against the wall. Her lips parted and I moved my tongue inside her mouth. I went rough and pressed against her harder. She moaned and pulled me towards her.
