Episode # 17: Her Nightmare

The past continues...

In Maheshwari Mansion, one year ago (when Sanskar and Karan ran away), Ramta's murderer discovered the boys had escaped. He left with his men, believing that both Ram and Sujata were dead. However, while Sujata had indeed died from the drug's effects, Ram was still alive, though barely.

Untied by the attackers, Ram struggled to move. Spitting blood, he painfully dragged himself toward the landline. Knowing his sons had fled, he desperately crawled to the phone, yanking it down by the wire. The landline crashed to the floor with a thud as Ram, with trembling hands, dialed a familiar number, coughing blood with every labored breath.

After several rings, the person on the other end finally picked up, sounding groggy from sleep.

"Who is this?" asked the voice on the other side, still half-asleep.

Ram, struggling to speak, stammered, "Sh-Shekhar..."

Shekhar, now fully awake, sat up with a jolt. "Ram? What happened?"

Ram's voice was weak and broken as he gasped for air. "Please... save my sons... they'll kill them... Shekhar, please..."

Shekhar's panic grew as he tried to make sense of the fragmented words. "Ram, what's going on? Tell me!"

With his last breath, Ram continued, "For our friendship... take care of my sons... Tell them... we loved them..."

Ram's breathing grew heavier, the words barely audible, and then silence fell on the other end of the line.

"Ram! Ram!" Shekhar shouted, but no response came. Ram had died, succumbing to the poison, leaving two lifeless bodies—Ram and Sujata—covered in their blood, in what had once been the warmth of their home.

Shekhar, residing in Mumbai, had been childhood friends with Ram, though their careers had taken them in different directions, keeping them apart for years. They had reconnected not long ago.

Without wasting a second, Shekhar informed Sumi and rushed to Delhi. Upon arriving at Ram's mansion, he found the police already there, removing the bodies of Ram and Sujata. The sight of his best friend and his wife, both dead, broke Shekhar. Desperate for answers, he used his connections to uncover the details of what had happened. He performed their last rites and vowed to find Sanskar and Karan, who were now missing.

For the next year, Shekhar made frequent trips to Delhi, as his men searched tirelessly for the boys. He couldn't remain in Delhi permanently because of Sumi and Swara, who were still in Mumbai. During this time, Shekhar discovered that Ram had made him the legal guardian of both Sanskar and Karan six months before his death. Ram had known his life was in danger.

One day, while driving on the highway, Shekhar spotted two children sitting by the roadside. One boy was hugging the other tightly, his body shaking with sobs. Shekhar immediately stopped his car and approached them. To his utter shock, the boys were none other than Sanskar and Karan, both in terrible condition.

Without wasting a moment, Shekhar lifted Karan into his arms and rushed them to the hospital. He didn't ask any questions, as it was clear Sanskar wasn't in a state to answer. All Shekhar could do was pray that he wasn't too late to save them.

In hospital:

Karan was taken to the operating theater while outside, Shekhar, with great difficulty, managed to calm Sanskar down. Sanskar told Shekhar everything, knowing him well as Shekhar had often stayed at their mansion whenever he visited Delhi. The connection between them was strong, and Sanskar trusted him.
