Alice POV:
I heard Leon's voice echo in my mind as I clenched the blanket.
"I don't know." I said.
"You don't need to be afraid Alice. Just tell the truth. Nothing will happen to you. This is a serious case." Leon said as I met his eyes. His eyes were serious.
"I don't know." I repeated.
"Alice-"
"Leon." Axel said. Leon got quiet. "Alice really doesn't know. She doesn't lie. That's the girl Alice is." Axel said. Leon said nothing.
"Very well." Leon said. "Who trapped you there?"
"I don't know." I said.
"Alice. This isn't helping. We need the truth-"
"I said I don't know!" I yelled. I grabbed the covers as I went underneath. I closed my eyes as I felt tears rush to my eyes. "I said I don't know.. So I don't know.." I muttered as Leon and Axel left the room.
Later that day, Leon came into the room with a letter.
"I'm sorry Alice." Leon said. "I.. I just couldn't stand seeing you like that.." Leon said. "But anyway... Here." Leon handed me the letter. Leon left the room and I ripped it open.
It read, "Dear my sweet Alice, how are you? I'm bored at home and I'm recovering really fast. I should be coming back to school soon. I miss you. Did anything good happen while I was gone? It's so quiet and boring that I started to wish I was with you every minute and second of the day. Alice, I love you. Don't be staying with Axel. He's such a worry-wart. He came by earlier. He seemed upset. What happened? Where are you right now? What are you doing right now? What are you eating? Have you been eating well? You're not sleep-deprived are you? Are you still sleeping in class? It must be night. Or is it morning? I really want to be with you. When I come back, I'll be sticking by your side so much, you'll hate me. But anyways, I miss you like crazy. I don't know when this letter will reach you Alice. I love you. Your love, Victor."
I clutched the letter to my chest as I felt a faint beat from my chest.
"My heart.. It's not beating as fast anymore.." I said as I looked at the letter. Something smudge was on the paper. I looked closer and read what it said.
"I'm going to ask you.. To marry.. me..." I read slowly as I squinted my eyes. I felt my eyes widen as I felt the breeze from outside come in. "He.. Wants to marry me..?" I asked aloud to myself as the door closed. I looked up as my eyes widened.
"You're not getting married to him Alice."
