I pulled him into the line for Big Shot, the ride that takes you up and drops you repeatidly. His eyes widen and he says, "Absolutely not."

I roll my eyes. "Come on, we didn't come all the way to Santa Cruz for no reason."

He laughed. "I think that going on....slower, safer rides would be better. Or just laying on the beach?" He said hopefully.

I sighed and gave in. We pushed our way out of the line and I let him lead the way.

We get in line for the Ferris Wheel. And the line took forever.

"The Ferris Wheel. Really?" I teased.

"Just wait," he smirked.

We got into a yellow car- or rather- chair and were lifted a few feet before stopping immidiately. We swung a bit before the more people got on and we went up a bit more. About five intervals later, we had stopped at the very top. I took this as a chance to look behind me and absorb the beach from above. And that was not a good idea.

We swung backwards, causing me to lean forward in a poor attempt to try and even it out. That lurched the seat forward, and I squealed. This was scary. I stopped moving altogether and looked hopelessly at Erick.

"This is ridiculous. I can't move without being scared out of my mind! Not to mention the fact that I'm way up here...in outer space or something."

He grinned,  just before the wheel did a few full circles. Erick laughed and grabbed my hand as I said between clenched teeth, "I. Want. Off."

He replied with, "Almost."

We were released a few minutes later and I ran off and far away from the stupid Ferris Wheel, bumping into a few innocent bystanders. So calm looking. Moral of the story: Don't move on a ferris wheel.  At all.

We went on a lot of fast, spinning rides before walking down to the beach. It was probably around 8, and pretty cold. (Santa Cruz is pretty chilly on summer nights) I took off my shoes and walked where the cold water met the golden California sand.

Erick P.O.V

She was walking in the surf, her shoes in her hand. The moonlight illuminated the sky, giving the sea a mystical appearance. I linked my arm with hers, the dull noise of thill rides and sceaming filling our ears along with crashing waves. The lights were spinning and making pretty patterns on the boardwalk.

"I think we should go home now. It'll be really late by the time we get there," I said to Scarlett.

She nodded and slipped her shoes back on.

I hopped in the drivers seat and we drove the hour and a half quietly. When we finally made it to her house we both got out. I hugged her, and I whipered into her hair, "Thanks, Scarlett. I had a lot of fun."

She pulled away and replied.

"Me too"

I watched as she walked into her house and shut the door behind her. I got into my own car and made my way home.

I strolled into my kitchen and checked my messages. I only had one message, and decided to listen to it now. I gasped when I heard my mothers voice, a chill running up and down my spine as I felt my blood run cold.

"Hello Erick. Don't think for a second that by running away years ago you got away. The family needs the money, so you are either going to marry Rose or supply the funding on your own. You better have the money or the wedding planned in two months, or I'll have to send your father out there."

The machine beeped and told me that there were no new messages. I stood in my kitchen for a few minutes, before walking to my room. I lowered myself to my bed. Why the heck would I even consider marrying Rose? She a stuck up jerk, to say the least. And my heart belongs to Scarlett. I hope I have enough money to pay my way out of it. [A.N I don't mean for this to be an 'arranged marraige' story. It isn't like that. This is a custom that has been in the family for years.]

I walked into my house and bounded up the stairs. It was almost midnight, and I have school tomorrow. Alice and my mom were sound asleep. I went back down the stairs and microwaved some leftover Chinese food. I ate it and brought some water upstairs with me. I entered my room and I put on my black sweats and a blue pajama shirt. I plopped down on my bed when I felt a ghost. I rolled my eyes and ignored the butterflies and chill that came with a ghostly presence as I snuggled into my bed. My eyes widened and I jolted awake when I heard an all-too familiar voice say, "Scarlett?"
