Tears were rolling down my red cheeks. I walked slowly towards my house and straight to the back yard. I left the gate and was walking through the woods behind my house. I looked up at the tree house and climbed up the rickety ladder. Questions races through my head.
Why did he do that? Should I forgive him? Why has he been distancing himself from me? Is he in a bad mood? Has he done this in prior relationships? Why is this happening?
I sat down on the small, blue, plastic chair that has been in here for years. I just put my head in my hands, crying. I was in my crying session when a person tapped on my shoulder.
"Ada? Why are you crying?" My little brother said, his lips in a frown.
"It's just teenage stuff." I wiped a tear from my eye.
"Well I'm almost a teenager, I am in sixth grade after all. Eleven is only a couple of years from thirteen. I'm actually almost twelve." He smiled proudly at that thought.
"Well, I'm having relationship issues with Braxton." I spoke, rubbing my cheek.
"Why are you red their." He touched my cheek lightly. I didn't want him to know what happened there. I didn't want him to tell mom or think poorly of Braxton.
"Ahh, um nothing, I just tripped in the woods." I stuttered slightly as I spoke, attempting to not make it obvious.
"If you say so, I believe you." He said that but he didn't sound persuaded. He gave me a warm hug, despite the freezing cold weather.
"I couldn't ask for a better little brother." I smiled and ruffled his hair. He gave me a playful glare and we both laughed. Cameron can always make me smile. He also is very good at reading people's emotions.
"How about we go home and get some hot chocolate, with a ton of marshmallows, whipped cream, and chocolate syrup. We can't forget about the chocolate chips; mom has some in the pantry for making cookies." I said, as I gave Cameron a mischievous smile and he smiled right back at me.
"Hurry up, before I TICKLE YOU!!" I wiggled my hands as if they were tickling machines. I knew he was really too old for this, but I knew it would get him moving nonetheless.
"Hell no!" he replied, rather surprisingly. He's growing up. He got out quickly and we both ran into the warm house as if we were racing each other.
I beat him to the house (of course) and he took out his inhaler because of his bad asthma. I gave him a worrying look. He lifted his hand, showing that he was fine. A sigh that I didn't know I had was released.
I made the hot chocolate while my little brother set us up for a movie. I walked into the living room with two white mugs that had some hot chocolate 'art' on it. Cameron licked his lips and he had a movie up on Netflix. I gave him his hot chocolate and we both settled on the couch.
I looked up on the screen and responded to his choice in movie.
"We are not watching a scary movie Cam." I protested.
"Yes we are, are you afraaaiiid?" He questioned as he wiggled his fingers around while making a goofy face.
"No you little weirdo. The real question is... will yooouuuuu be afraid?" I mimicked him and ruffled his hair.
"Don't mess up the hair." He whined, swatting my hands away.
"Why? Do you have some girl to impress later?" I asked, teasing him. His cheeks were turning a bright red shade at this point. I smirked, and that smirk formed into a smile, then a laugh escaped my mouth. He scrunched his nose up and furrowed his brow.
