The World at Its End

Chapter 6: Help

Winter woke up in the same bush she fell into. She felt different like something was in her head. Honestly she didn't know what. She slowly got up climbing from the hole that she thought would of sealed her fate.

"I hear voices," she said. She walked to where she thought the voices were coming from.

"Its Winter!" Jonathan shouted as soon as he saw her. She rushed over and hugged him. They hugged long and hard. And to ruin the moment Will immediately said, "Their dating!" Winter and Jonathan immediately backed away from each other.

"Way to ruin the moment," Sophia said.

"Wait a second where's Jamie?" Courtney asked. Everybody immediately got quiet.

"We don't know we haven't seen her in a while," Robert said. All of a sudden a light breeze picked up the air. And then a helicopter flew over them.

"What the," Sophia said.

"Attention, humans! We are here to help. We are the Alien Invasion Department or AID. Come with us," A man yelled from the helicopter. The sent a rope down immediately after. They all climbed up. The helicopter was a cargo one meant to hold more weight then normal helicopters.

"Hi I'm Will," Will said.

"Good afternoon, I'm Sargent James Cunningham," The man said, "We are going to take you to are compound to help us put an end to this invasion."

"Alright," They said.

"From now on if you agree you'll be called alpha team," the Sargent said.

"Sounds like a chance to avenge are families, we're in," Will said.

"Good," the Sargent said. They didn't say anything for the rest of the flight. Apparently they had crossed into New York which apparently a safe haven from the aliens. The helicopter landed at a landing pad on the tallest building in New York which apparently was the AID building.

"Welcome to AID," James said.

"Thanks," Robert said. They entered the building through clear glass doors. They walked past many things on the way to the command center where they would be given their first assignment from the man in charge. All of a sudden they heard a scream. An inhuman scream.

"What was that," Winter said immediately turning around.

"Nothing. Please keep moving," James said. Will already was starting to feel uneasy like he was being watched at all times. They eventually reached a central hub of sorts. They walked in the round meeting room to discover about 30 people waiting there for them. People started clapping. It started out slowly, but then dissolved into something bigger.

"Why are they clapping?" Will whispered into James ear.

"Because you guys are the only survivors that we know of besides the people living here," James replied. Will smiled, he found that he hadn't been able to do that for a while.

"Alright everyone I think they got the point," the man in charge said which they found out his name was Blake Edwards. He continued, "You have been brought here today so that we can send you into the field of battle against the aliens so we can be free again. I'm sure Sargent James here already told you about what your name is and that you will also be staying with us. You will be provided with weapons a team of troopers and your own ranks. Will you will be the Commander of the team you will report directly to General Schmidt over here. Robert you will have earned the rank of Lieutenant . Everybody else will be awarded with the rank of Lieutenant 2nd class. You'll be showed to your shared bunks. Thank you and welcome to AID."

Later In Will's - Robert's - and Jonathan's room:

"Congrats you guys. It's awesome isn't it. We finally found... help," Will said while laying on the top bunk of Will and Robert's bunk bed.

"Thanks you to," Robert and Jonathan said.

"Well we better head to bed, so we don't sleep in to much. I heard we get are first assignment tomorrow. Night," Robert said right before turning out the light in the room. Will laid in bed thinking. Thinking about how they would avenge their families. How they would save the world.
