Dani - "I hear dead people" is always a good conversation starter.

"I hear voices..."

I whisper and then start coughing trying to dislodge the dry lump in my throat and take a gulp of cold tea with too much air and swallow so hard my throat aches all the way down. I splutter and cough some more and take a small sip this time. It is disgusting but the normal action of tea drinking helps settle some of my nerves.

"I have been hearing voices since I was a little girl. . They tell me things and warn me about other stuff. I have one voice that has been with me for as long as I can remember. I told my mum eventually and she told me I wasn't crazy and that I would understand one day. She told me to always listen to them but I didn't want to you know? What kind of nutjob listens to the voices in their heads and then does at they are told by said fictional voices?"

"I don't understand what is going on but they tell me I can trust you and that I need your help. They also told me that we are still in danger. One of them says 'yes a cuppa always helps but you're going to need a lot more than that to deal with the coming problems'. Nathan, I think we are running out of time. The dead people say we need to move soon - are you still with me or do you think I'm completely crazy? Nathan?"

I try to catch Nathans's eye but he has a rather weird cross-eyed, confused face going on and it's rather funny. Actually, it just gets better the longer he stares at me. I can't help it, I burst out laughing. Which gets even worse when his face then switches from confused to praying? He is looking at the roof of the house, so I assume praying to God. Jock who was still next to him gave one quick but loud enough bark that even I jumped a tiny bit.

Nathan though makes me fall off my chair onto the floor laughing so hard tears are running down my face and I struggle to drag enough air in for the next bout of giggles. Nathans reaction to Jock barking whilst he was still praying is by far the funniest thing to happen to me this week. This man who carried me through the woods, who demanded I tell him everything about the horrors of the last few days. The same guy who was ordering me around and so physically huge a wrestler would think twice. Nathan actually yelps in response and jumps fast from the couch clutching his heart, flushing bright red as opposed to the pale pallor of a few minutes ago. "It wasn't that damn funny, the bear is trying to kill me! I swear it knows how to drive a sane man crazy!" I hear him declare through my laughter. I start to pull myself together and then when I try to get back into the chair I can't hold back the small moan of pain I feel trying to climb back up.

"Up you come kid," Nathan says as he picks me up off the floor and places me back on the bed instead of the chair. "Get some sleep and we will pick this up tomorrow, I am crashing on the couch so don't worry about a thing, I am here for you. Don't worry I've got some things ready if we have to leg it like them voices tell you"

My eyes already closing I try to stay awake a little longer.

"Nathan?" "Aye lass you okay?" The concern coming through his voice.

"I'm not a kid, mm 20, nThankquu for saving mee, you didn haveto but immaglad udid..."
