"Pretty much what she told you or don't you listen human?" I drawl sarcastically from where I lean against the wall allowing them to see me. Although I am reasonably sure the dog could still see me anyway. I really do need to ask about him and do some research.
"What the fuck?! Where the hell did you come from?" The human male shouts as he jumps to his feet and turns to face me head-on whilst putting the girl behind him. I'm sure he had more to say or do but he obviously moved too fast as he fell back onto the slab to the side of him. Groaning he grabs his head as he weaves side to side. I can see him still trying to stand to face me and I have to quiet the respect growing for him trying to still protect the girl when fighting a head injury.
"I've been here a while you just couldn't see me - I control this pocket. Hold onto him a moment" I tell the girl and watch as she does so. I shift our surroundings to a comfortable living room similar to their cabin from the woods but with updated facilities as easily seen by the dripping faucets in the kitchen. Instead of demanding answers, she guides the human to the armchair and he breathes a sigh of relief as he rests his head back. He refuses to let the girl go when she moves and she huffs and slaps at his hand. She murmurs lowly and he lets go reluctantly and she glides into the kitchenette area I made.
I continue to lean against the wall and watch as she moves around the space like she owns the place. I can see that she herself is still healing and in some pain - something in my chest tightens as I watch her move slowly around the kitchen - checking out the cupboards and such. She gathers a bowl and heats some water via the kettle and waits for it to cool by checking out the cupboards. She finds some tins of soup and pops one into a bowl and heats it up too. Bringing both bowls over to the human male she carefully cleans up the blood and inspects the cut in his temple. It's not too bad but it's clear he has a concussion from the way he moves and squints. It is also clear by the way he doesn't fight her as she starts feeding him the soup. Once finished she takes everything back to the kitchen and cleans up. She grabs an apple from the bowl I manifested and before coming back she grabs a second and surprises me by throwing it to me. All without saying a word.
Once they are both sitting down I finally move to the third chair I made and wait. She looks at the man and seeing his eyes are closed but his brow furrowed showing he is still aware she turns to me and scans me from head to toe and back again. I fight the instinctive need to posture and intimidate and stay still. I raise an eyebrow at her when her gazes raises back to my face and I watch as an attractive blush crosses her cheeks. She huffs and crosses her arms - looks back at the male and sighs. She pulls in a breath and returns her gaze now steady back to me.
"Talk." One simple word. That is all she says to me. No one-thousand questions no outrageous demands or stupid hysterics the humans are well known for when faced with something scary - Just one word and I find something seriously attractive about her straightforward approach after everything she has been through. Again something happens inside my chest and it feels strange. I ignore the feeling and try to put words together to make them understand their situation.
"How much do you understand about what has happened to you so far?" I ask instead. Thinking it might be best to start from her belief of the beginning.
"I was kidnapped on my way home. I was kept prisoner for a while - I don't know how long. They kept switching between talking in a different language to asking me weird questions that I don't understand. I know they were serious - obviously but it makes no sense. My mum found me with a bunch of people and they all started fighting with fucking swords!!! She got me free and told me to run. Not to look back and to keep going. She... she went back to buy me time. I saw her get stabbed and ... die. She couldn't have survived that and then the guy who killed her started heading towards me. I got my ass outta there and did my best to stay hidden and safe. After a few close calls I collapsed in Nathans's woods and he found me. He saved me. You know what happened then. The scary guys showed up and then you killed them. Then somehow we got here and I want to know why and how?!" She finished with a stubborn scowl across her face. She really was something with that fiery determination of hers. Much too attractive that one.
"Well I guess telling you that that 'scary guys' are lower-level demons should be about where I start? A little while ago the Demon Lord sent out his minions to retrieve you. A massive shock wave went through the worlds beforehand and it turned his attention to you. If he can capture you he can turn you into a shade. A powerful soul twisted with magic that would do his bidding with no will of your own. Your guardian was an Angel and it seems she died protecting you. You got away from the demons but they caught up with you in the woods as they are phenomenal trackers. They have orders to take you back to the Demon Lord. The problem with that though is You wouldn't get to him in one piece. The lower demons would have taken chunks out of you whether physically or mentally. You would have been useless by the time you arrived. The second problem is that I have my own plans for you. My name is Trent and I am a higher demon. if this isn't obvious you are now my prisoner until I say otherwise. You can not escape from this pocket realm as it is controlled entirely by my mind. So do not bother wasting both our times by trying to escape - it is impossible. If you behave you will be left alone and rewarded. If you try to harm me or escape I will imprison you in the first room you awoke in. I will leave you to think about that. I will be back later as I have some errands to run now that the Demon Lord should know soon I am not doing as ordered."
