Rohit checked his cellphone. As usual, there was one text message. No matter, how much he prayed that the sender of the message be Dishita, it would always be Sneha. She was the girl who had taken his number from Dishita. She had texted him everyday ever since she had taken his number. It started with ‘I am sorry for my behaviour on the first day’, went on to ‘What are you doing?’ by the end of the week and by the end of the month, her message asked the same thing every day, ‘Good morning! Will you be coming today? I have tons of things to explain to you.’

Was she an idiot? Which girl would send message everyday without even getting a reply? Rohit had no intention of replying back to a ‘desperate’ girl.

Sneha wasn’t desperate but sure acted like it. She had never laughed at someone’s appearance or weakness before, but she did that to impress Rupesh and now she regretted it. She had broken up with Rupesh a while ago. She had sent a message to Rohit about it but Rohit hadn’t been reading her messages lately.

Sneha didn’t know that Rohit wasn’t even reading her texts. Today was the last exam. She knew that Rohit would come for the semester exam but she always missed him. She wasn’t even sure that she missed him. To tell the truth, she had waited for him outside the class in which he should be seated for the exam but he never came. She just wanted to clear up some things with him. A chance. That’s all she wanted.

’Even missing the exam? Did Rupesh have that much effect on Rohit? And Rohit did look like he had been working out, then why would he be afraid of Rupesh now? Is it the trauma or the fact that Rupesh is from a powerful family? Even I had problems with the break up. I can’t believe this bully Rupesh is the same Rupesh who was in love with me not long ago.’

The exam finished and she sighed as she thought more about Rupesh and pulled out her cell phone from her jeans pocket.

You didn’t even come for the exam? Are you an idiot? Don’t be scared of Rupesh to the point that you’d have to miss your exam.

As she pressed the send button, she wondered whether she would ever get a reply from him. This wasn’t like her. Ever since she broke up with Rupesh, the news had spread throughout the college campus and she was asked out 18 times for a date.

Surprisingly, Rupesh had been calm about all this. She had been scared of telling him that it’s over between them but he took it well. Perhaps he wanted the same thing, but there wasn’t any cursing. Even if she was asked for a date in front of him, he didn’t mind. He even encouraged her. She wanted complete cut off but after seeing Rupesh’s reaction to the whole thing, she was cool with being his friend.

She was walking towards the gate when she spotted Dishita in the crowd. She ran towards her and caught her before she entered the car.

’She is rich enough to have a chauffeur? Why does she dress so weird then?’

“Dishita! Thank God, I caught you. Have you heard from Rohit lately?”

“Why are asking me about him?”

“Isn’t he your only friend in the whole college? And I think that vice-versa is also true.”

Dishita was pissed. She didn’t want to talk about Rohit. Ever since that day when they talked about Linxx, she started to hate him. She knew that Rohit wasn’t wrong but she still couldn’t hear anything bad about Linxx. Why she reacted that way about Linxx, she couldn’t tell. She made Rohit her friend because he seemed like a good guy but she wasn’t the type who’d make someone her friend just because of that.
