Oh, how I want to wipe that stupid smirk off of her punch-worthy face.
"What? I'm sorry, I didn't hear you," the mouse-like girl states. Her followers snicker.
You once again find yourself in the middle of the schoolyard, face to face with your unofficial nemesis. More people are talking, but all are clearly aware of your encounter.
"I said," you try again and raise your voice a little more, "I'm sorry."
"Now, who would have thought that?" she sarcastically asks with a smile that honestly seems like it's begging you to remove it from her face. And you are still tempted to do so.
What is the next best thing I can do?
She leans forward, closer to your disgusted face, and lets the final words slip from her amused lips, "I knew you would come around."
A few seconds pass and the look of self-satisfaction switches to that of a child who just ate something abnormally distasteful. The girls gasp and the yard grows silent. The corner of your mouth curls upwards. Semmi takes a step back and wipes her forehead with her sleeve. After throwing a quick glance, her attention turns back to you, eyes now on fire.
"You're a dead girl," she sputters.
"I think it was rather well placed," you grin with gratification. You stare at the spot where a splodge of your saliva was located just moments ago; right between her unevenly painted eyebrows.
"You're gonna pay fo-!" she yells out but is cut off by the bell halfway through her sentence.
Thank you, Lord.
People start storming in and you disappear with the crowd to avoid becoming a new Mufasa. After reaching the hall, you make a sharp left-turn and head up the stairs towards your locker. The class you were supposed to attend has been canceled so you decide to haunt the halls for a while after stuffing the books down into your bag.
An hour passes by quickly. You glance down at your phone. Only one class left. One which you have absolutely zero intention of attending. But if you go home, your dad will know and you really can't deal with his lecturing today. Instead, you go to your favorite spot in the entire city - only beat by your dad's studio; your place-to-go when skipping class.
You saunter around the empty library, trailing a finger across the dust-covered books, looking for something interesting. Something different from the chemistry class you're skipping.
Turning another corner, much to your surprise, you bump into a solid yet soft pillar, seemingly covered in some sort of fabric.
Looking up, you see the one face you wish would just leave you alone.
"Watch where you're going," you growl and move to pass him to comb the next section.
But you are stopped in the midst of your action by a hand on your wrist. Something sturdy like a body closens in so you can practically feel the heat radiating from there. Next, you feel a hot breath tickling your exposed shoulder, seven small words whispered in your ear,
"I thought I would find you here."
You let out a short, slightly shocked breath as you feel your heart skip a beat.
What?
You intend to wriggle free from his grasp and kick him right where it hurts, but before you even get the chance to finish thinking, you're spun around and find yourself pressed against the end of a bookcase; face to, well, chest.
"What do you want?" you ask, acting like you aren't affected by his unexpected action at all.
You glance up, still doing your best to keep up a straight face. You lock eyes for a second and something you would rather get killed for than to admit suddenly hits you. His undeniably handsome features stand out more than ever before. The raised eyebrow, the cocky smirk, the charismatic look in his eyes all added to his already striking looks.
Ya, cut it.
"I think you know the answer already."
Do I look like a mind reader?
"I wouldn't ask if I did. Not that I care, really."
How annoying.
You're in the midst of a thought when he suddenly blurts out a ridiculous demand.
"Go out with me."
"What?!" you let out, half laughing, half choking on your own spit.
Where did that come from all of a sudden?!
While you're basically having the time of your life because of the absurd claim, he is dead serious.
"I did you a favor; you owe me," he continues.
"You did me a favor? How?" you question in disbelief and finally eye the chance to get let loose.
You free a hand, gently push him away and walk a few steps so you're out of reach.
"I had to pull a string or two to get you out of trouble with Semmi. The least you can do is to go out with me."
As if.
"Hey, that was your choice, not my request," you say as you now make your way towards the exit. Why should you do anything for him in return? It's not like you asked him to get involved.
He catches up and blocks the door with his entire being. You glare up at him, crossing your arms.
"Move."
"The price: A kiss," he smirks.
For Heaven's sake.
"Since when did you become so cocky?"
"Never said I wasn't."
"And what happened to your good-guy facade?"
"Had to stop trying when I fell for you."
Wait, what?
While still being more confused than ever before, you pretend your heart isn't acting weird and your eyes go for a round.
What the hell is up with this dude?
You turn on your heel and now head towards the side of the room. He observes you through narrowed eyes as you tick open a window.
I refuse to let him win.
You move your feet outside so you now sit on the windowsill, legs dangling in the air outside. Your eyes dart back to his baffled yet curious face. Sending him a quick, smug smile you slip out and land on the flower bed half a floor below. Jumping off the edge - now the same level as the first floor -, you land securely on the pathway leading to the school gates.
"Was that really necessary?" he calls out from the place you were just at.
Not even bothering to look up you just grab your bag, swing it over your shoulder and soon you are out on the pavement, making your way home.
