After Peter disappeared, Ned came out of the school struggling to carry a stack of books and his back pack. Some kids came up and pushed him, making his books crash to the ground. Ned leaned over trying to catch the loose papers as his bullies laughed. I went to his defense and walked right over to the ring leader. "Hey, what's your problem?" Everyone stopped to watch the confrontation and they're laughter quieted down. Ned stopped and looked up in shock at me standing in front of the group of boys. I stared at one of the boys waiting for an answer, finally one of them looked down at me and smiled,"listen cutie, that kid's a loser. Don't worry about it." His friends let out a laugh, and Ned piped up, "Flash, just leave us alone." Flash shot Ned a glare and shouted, "No one was talking to you! Maybe you should focus more on trying to get up," Flash motioned to Ned's size, and continued, "and quit trying to but in on what the important people are doing here." Ned looked down in embarrassment. "Anyways, are you new here sweet heart? Cause I'd be happy to show you around sometime." Flash begins to flirt. I stop and give him a sweet smile, "Actually, time is really important to me, and I don't feel like I should be wasting it on an asshole like you."
Flash drops his smile and his friends howl with laughter. "So why don't you go on and get back to whatever cave man activity you had planned, and I'll let you off with a warning." I begin to turn around to help Ned when suddenly Flash grips my arm, "Hey hey hey, you can't talk to me like that. Why don't you apologize before things get ugly?" I look at him and then at his hand on my arm, the courtyard is silent and waiting for the next move. I let out a sigh and Flash smirks, "Okay, I'm feeling generous today, so I'll give you to the count of five to remove your hand and walk away." The boys are shocked by what I said and I begin my count, "1...2..." Flash lets out a chuckle and looks at his friends, "oh I'm so scared,"I smile, "5." Before he can look back I grip his hand and twist it off of my arm, and send a swift kick into his stomach. In his daze I pull his arm behind his back and kick the back of his leg, making him kneel next to Ned.
Everyone looks on in shock and Flash lets out a wimpier and cries out for me to let go. "You can get up when you apologize to Ned." Ned looks up at me, his eyes wide and his jaw hanging open. Flash turns too look up, breathing heavily, "what? No, why would I do Th-" I cut him off by putting pressure on his arm, "ow ow ow! Okay okay." I stop and wait, "Sorry." Flash says quietly. "what was that, I don't think that was sincere." I push on his arm once more and stop. Flash lets out a breath, and looks Ned in the eye. "I'm sorry for pushing you down." I let go of Flash and his scurries back to his friends who are poking him and muttering about him getting his ass kicked by a girl. When they leave I lean down and help Ned up, "are you okay?" Ned finally finds the words to respond and asks, "How did you do that? That was so cool." he starts asking me a dozen questions and I shake my head and smile, "Don't worry about it, I just hate seeing people getting mistreated like that." We both get up and start walking away from the school.
We walked in silence for a minute and Ned finally spoke up, "Thank you, for helping me, Flash has always been a real jerk." I shrug and let him know it wasn't a big deal, after we carried on a little small talk Ned stops and lets out a gasp, making me turn to meet his eyes, "I need to go to Peter's house!" Ned notices the confusion on my face, "we're supposed to work on this thing together and-" Ned pauses, "Hey, do you want to come? We can tell Peter about how you showed Flash who's boss." He smiles at me and waits for my answer. I think it over for a second, 'I don't know where Peter is and Ned invited me, yeah, why not.' I nod, "yeah sure, if it's not a big deal." Ned beams with happiness and we start heading towards Peter's apartment. 'Funny, Stark's town home is a few blocks away. I guess Peter must be really important to Tony.'
