We walked out of the building, picking up our conversation from earlier, but Peter turns and runs to the side of the building. "I gotta grab something real quick," he says as I follow him. He climbs up the fire escape to grab his back pack, then climbs down to meet me on the ground. "You need your bag to walk me home?" I ask curiously, looking at him sling the bag over his shoulder. He looks at me and then the bag, "Uh, yeah well... I'm not gonna come straight home," he sees the confused look on my face, "I've got a thing." He finishes with a smile and a shrug. 'I could try to get into his head, but I don't want to do that to him just yet... I'll just follow him after he leaves the town home.' I think silently and give him a slight nod and turning in the direction of where we're headed.
As we walk Peter starts a conversation, "so you live with your uncle?" he asks while we stop at a light, waiting for it to let us pass. "Kind of," I shrug and the light changes, I can feel Peter wanting me to continue. "He actually stays in the city, and I stay by myself here in Queens." Peter looks shocked, "By yourself? How do you live alone?" He asks, his voice genuinely curious and wanting answers. "Long story, maybe I'll tell you sometime," I smile and nudge his shoulder. We continue talking until finally, "This is me," I say pointing at the front door of the town home, bringing our walk to an end. Peter looks up and his eyes widen, "wow, you're pretty close. That was only, what? Three or four blocks?" I smile and respond, "yeah, I guess so. Thanks for walking me home Peter, you really didn't need to." I quickly lean in for a hug, shocking Peter. He slowly wraps his arms around me, and I quietly place my ring in the side pocket of his bag. The ring was small and simple, but Stark had implanted a tracker in the band. When I finished placing the tracker I stopped to realize that I felt strangely comfortable in Peter's arms. The way he wrapped himself around me made me feel warm and safe. I cleared my head and let go of Peter, I could see the blush in his cheeks and I turned to begin walking up the steps, "Don't worry about it, maybe we can study here sometime," he suggests after gathering his thoughts, "anyways, I really gotta go. I'll see you in school!" Peter waves and walks off.
I walk inside and quickly go downstairs to the training room. I change into some jeans and a black hoodie. If I was going to follow Peter, I couldn't risk him seeing me. I looked in the mirror, and took a breath, this was going to be easy. 'Just track him and see what he's up to,' I thought. I looked at the watch Tony had given me, it was small and sleek, but the watch was just for show. It's true purpose was to locate the tracker I put on Peter. I pressed my finger on the screen and it lit up with a soft green glow, I could see Peter had moved about five blocks from me. I quickly left and made my way towards his location.
By the time I found Peter, I could see him walking rather quickly, checking over his shoulder every so often. I kept my distance, ducking behind dumpsters and into alleyways if I felt like he might see me. We walked about another two blocks until Peter dove into an ally. I couldn't follow him for fear that it was a dead end, so I hurried into the one next to it and climbed the fire escape. From there I ran to the opposite side and jumped down a few floors, landing on another fire escape just about Peter. He didn't hear me land since I was about six floors above him, but I crouched low and watched silently so that he wouldn't see me. My eyes widened, 'what the actual fuck is he doing?!' I thought to myself as he started to strip in the alley. 'Clearly this kid is just a lunatic, why would Stark make me watch him?' I was about to turn away when Peter swiftly removed his pants, but I stopped when I saw him pull something from his back pack. I couldn't tell what it was because it was dark, but it looked like a kind of suit.
My confusion grew while I watched Peter quickly put on the suit and mask, both looked too big for him until suddenly the material tightened around his body. He Put his clothes into his back pack and threw it up in the air, it was coming straight for me when I heard the sound of something shooting the back into the wall and securing it into place. 'Is that a web?' I thought as I watched on, and Peter quickly jumped and slung another web, gliding out of my sight. I was stunned and had to take a second to gather my thoughts, but I shook out of it and checked my watch for the tracker. "Shit," I mumbled. The tracker was in Peter's back pack which was suspended in the alley that I was still in. I shrugged and retrieved the ring before getting up to follow his direction. I looked up, knowing that he was probably moving too quickly for me to catch up, then I realized that there was a way for me to catch him. I let out a breath, "now or never," I said to myself and closed my eyes. I imagined the rooftop above me, focusing on the details and willing myself to move. Suddenly I felt the wind on my face and when I opened my eyes, there I was, on the roof of the building. 'Perfect,' I thought as I let a smile creep onto my face. I scanned the skyline for any sign of Peter, and finally saw him heading towards a more dangerous part of town. 'This is going to be easy."
For the next two hours, I would teleport from roof to roof, staying close to Peter. At this point I finally accepted that the nerdy young boy I'd been watching had turned out to be Spiderman. I figured that the tech for his suit must be from Stark and he wants me to keep Peter from getting himself killed. I spectated Peter, watching him stop thieves, and one or two criminals. For the most part I watched as he would swing from one place to the next, occasionally resting and watching what happened below. He was resting and watching now, it was really peaceful just sitting and seeing the city. I moved forward to get a better view of Peter, but I must've moved too close because he started to turn around making me panic. His attention was quickly taken away by the sound of a young woman calling out for help. He turned and jumped off the roof, going towards the sound of her voice.
I followed behind him and once I was there, I saw a men surrounding a woman and her child. 'They're robbing her,' I realized. Peter didn't hesitate to come to her rescue, landing effortlessly behind the men and saying, "Hey guys, don't you think it's a little late to be having a party in the middle of the street?" The men turned in shock, one of them rushing for Peter. I was slightly worried for him until I saw that he was knocking them down with little to know effort and having fun with it too. That was until one of the men he'd taken down pulled a gun behind Peter's back. There was no time to act so I quickly teleported down to the fight, and used my telekinesis to knock the gun from his hand. "What the hell?" I heard Peter say, as I knocked two of them out and Peter tied them up. The woman and her kid thanked us and she scurried home, leaving me and Peter. "Hey, thanks but I had that," he started, "have you been following me? Who are you?" I turned before he could see my face and I pulled my hood farther down so that I could stay hidden. I couldn't compromise myself. "Listen, I saw that guy pull the gun so I stepped in. Don't worry about it." I quickly said as I started to walk farther from him, but he jumped and flipped over my head, landing in front of me. I ducked my head down and he asked, "you have abilities too? You came out of nowhere and those guys couldn't even touch you." He kept prying, but I stopped him, "Listen Peter, don't ask me who I am or what I can do, I was only helping." He jumped at the sound of his name, "Uh, P-Peter? Who's Peter? I'm Spiderman," he quickly tried to lie and stopped when I held up a hand. "I'm a telepathic, I know who you are. Don't worry, you're secret is safe." Before he could respond I started moving again, but he tried to stop me. He attempted to grab my arm but I teleported away before he could touch me. I was on the roof again and watched as a confused Spiderman looked around the empty street. He waited a moment before finally running off.
It was then that I decided to call it a night and go home.
