RUN" the voice screamed. "Get out of here before they turn you into one of them"
I ran as fast as legs would carry me. Panting I finally made it to the edge of the forest beyond which the grey road welcomed me. As I set my foot on the road, the road shook violently as I fell down my mind was flooded with distorted images.

"Ugh" I slowly sat up on my bed. "What on earth was that" I said to myself as I wiped my sweaty forehead with the back of my hand I looked down at my blanket only to find it drenched with my sweat.

"Shoot" I got up picking the blanket dropping it in the laundry basket near the door.

I went to my desk and picked up my watch and checked the time.
Great it's 3:30AM, I have another two hours before I have to really want up.

I lay down on the bed once again and stare at the ceiling. After a while when I still hadn't fallen asleep I turned towards the window. The heavy white curtain remained motionless even though a gust of wind blew through the open window. Feeling cold without my blanket I decided to close the window, besides matron would chew my head if she knew the window was open.
I drew the curtain aside in order to lock the window and that is when I saw it.
They were red. They were a hundred and they did not blink and just like that they disappeared. All at once.

I blinked and rubbed my eyes and looked at the old building again. Nothing.  I must be hallucinating or some shit because there is no way I really saw that.
I held my hand up to my mouth as I stifled a yawn.
I need sleep right now, not deep thoughts I said to myself before laying on the bed falling asleep the minute my head hit the pillow.

The next day I woke up to the sound of pounding on my door. The pounding did not stop nor did the pounding in my head.

"Coming" I roared at the door. I got up from the bed and carried my sleepy self to the door.  On opening the door matrons pissed face greeted me. I gulped and looked at her waiting for her to speak.

"Oversleeping is not allowed here" she shortly said.  "Since you do not have classes now, I'll let you off with a warning, but make sure this does not repeat"

"Yes matron"

She stared at me for a few more moments before turning around and walking away.

I heard laughter and turned to my left to find Elijah laughing his but off. "Yes matron" he repeated in a high pitched voice. "you should have seen your face, Ava would have killed to have seen your face."  he said while trying to control his laugh.

"Whatever dude" I had a rough night and I was not letting Elijah to further ruin my mood.

I went back inside to get my clothes. Elijah followed me inside and plopped himself on my bed.

"Couldn't sleep well?" he questioned.

"Yeah"

I debated whether or not to tell Elijah about the red thing I saw.

"Earth to Alec" Elijah said waving his hands frantically in front of my face.

"Sorry, there are a lot of things on my mind right now"

"I totally get it, new school, new people and annoying matron"

Fuck it I'm telling Elijah, this thing is driving me mad.

"Elijah can I tell you something?"

"Sure du..." he was cut off by a loud bang on the door.
