Weeks have gone by and Emily has finally gotten to the bottom of things.
"Look. Riley. You're really being selfish, idiotic and childish. You hate me for the simple reason that i just don't like being second best at something. Is that so wrong? At least i don't go all crazy when i don't get my way like you. I'm not spoilt like you, so you're quick to speak about how according to you i get everything my way, when actually that's you. Don't argue with me on this. I've seen you throw a tantrum when you don't get what you want."
"Oh really?"
"Yes really."
"Now please enlighten me with an example."
"Okay. That day in seventh grade when you wanted that pair of sneakers. It was All Stars, and you literally threw a tantrum in the shop infront of those people because your mom wouldn't get it for you because you had over enough pairs of shoes. So your mom just bought it and you acted like a little bitch the whole time. Don't you think your mother was ashamed at that moment? Don't you think she wanted the ground to open up and swallow her whole? Don't you think your mom was publicly humilited? That's your problem. You don't think. You don't think about how you may be affecting somebody else's emotions in the event.
But that's just our world now. People act on biased information, on rumours, on what they believe is right, on what they want. We don't think about getting both sides of the story, we don't think about how we may be hurting other people's feeling in the time being. Do we? No we don't. I'm part of this too. But you Riley, you are just overly self-centred."
Before Emily and Riley realised, there was a whole bunch of curious students wondering what was happening. They made a circle around the two of them.
"So I'm genuinely asking all of you; who honestly sometimes believe Riley can be a bitch and only worries about herself at most times?"
Nobody raised their hands.
"I know you guys are lying. She won't do anything to you. Be honest. Raise your hand. I do think so."
Emily said raising her hand. Then Mia raised her hand, so did Ethan and eventually did many more students.
"See exactly. Who of you have ever felt that you're not good enough simply because Riley has made you feel like a nobody? Or maybe not even Riley, anyone in fact?"
Once again, Emily raised her hand and eventually so did everyone else.
"Exactly Riley. Case closed. Do you want me to prove anything further?"
"Uh, well no."
"Good. So can you just admit you just wanted attention by saying I'm psycho and that you have no dirt on me? We all realise that it's lies because there's a lot of proof. So if you deny it, you're making a further fool of yourself."
"I just wanted attention by saying you're psyco and i had no dirt on you at all."
"Woaaaah." Everyone went.
"There you go guys. I'm perfectly fine. Have a good day. Positive vibes only!" Emily said and turned around.
"Oh and - " Emily said before getting further, "here's your diary." She said taking the book out of her bag and handing the book to Riley.
"You had my diary all along?" Riley asked.
"Yeah. Anything you're going to do?"
"No."
"Thought so."
And with that, Emily headed home.
