"Right this way, Your Highnesses." The voice came from a young servant whose wide eyes and shaky demeanor clearly indicated her nervousness at being in the presence of foreign royalty. She, being a servant in the palace, was of course accustomed to Thor and Eydis, but not so much to royalty like that of Loki and Kari.

Kari followed with a slight smile to set the girl's mind at ease, then looked over to Loki with a grin. "She's adorable," she whispered to him so the girl wouldn't hear.

Loki merely rolled his eyes. "There are hundreds of servants in our palace, and you think one Asgardian maid is adorable?"

She only laughed, turning back to follow the maid.

The actual coronation was to take place later, but celebration both preceded and followed it. Kari had a feeling there would be plenty of mischief done by the time the week was over.

"Don't be getting into trouble this soon," Loki chided, seeing her look.

"Me? Trouble? Whatever could you be talking about?" She asked innocently.

"Kari."

"Just a little?"

"Kari."

"Fine, fine."

Of course, they both knew that promise was void. If she really intended to follow it, she wouldn't have been the goddess of mischief.

___

"Kari Laufeydottir, I presume?"

Kari turned at the sound of her name, and a wide grin broke out over her features as she saw Eira standing there; then she forced her grin down and assumed an aloof, serious air. "Eydis Odindottir, I presume."

The two stared at each other for a moment, the air tense between them. The two servants present nearby exchanged worried glances, but neither dared to speak.

Then laughter broke out, and the two women went to exchange a hug. Though they had just met, they were bonding instantly.

"Such formalities here in Asgard," Kari said with a mock expression of disappointment as she shook her head. "So cold."

"And Vanaheim is better?" Eydis asked with a grin, her dress swirling around her as she stepped into the room Kari was using for the duration of her stay.

"No." Kari gave her a serious look, but a second later they were both laughing again. After their laughter died down, Kari continued. "I assume your visit isn't out of wanting to welcome me, is it?"

"How do you already know my motives?" Eydis joked, then nodded with a smirk. "I have heard a lot about you -- mainly that you cause mischief."

Kari spread her hands in an innocent gesture. "Why, I wouldn't be the goddess of mischief and the twin of the god of mischief if I didn't."

"Would you like to cause some mischief then?" She asked, eyes gleaming wickedly. Kari's took on that exact gleam as well.

"Who would I be to refuse the Princess of Asgard?"

"Good. I have an idea."

"Spill it."

___

"Oh my! You should most likely go to the infirmary, Lord Sindri."

"Wait, does your name really mean 'sparkles'?"

"Kari, that's not a polite question to ask."

"I was just curious!"

The two women were currently standing together, mock arguing in front of an Asgardian noble who had come to the coronation. The actual crowning part was long over, but Kari and Eydis' mischief hadn't even truly started yet.

"Because it is polite to ask someone that?" Eydis scolded Kari, who shrugged in an innocent gesture.

"You have to admit, it is a funny name."

"Will you two stop discussing my name?" The noble broke in, thoroughly annoyed at their antics. Eydis and Kari flashed him identical wicked smirks.

"Yes. Sorry, Sparkles." Kari said innocently, and she and Eydis slipped away before the noble could react.

"You can do hallucinations, right?" Eydis questioned, reaffirming Kari's part in the plan. Kari nearly laughed, but only smirked and waved her hand.

Seconds later, a scream rang out. Commotion from that side of the room ceased as a woman exclaimed she had sworn she had seen snakes in her wine cup. Eydis only rolled her eyes while everyone around the poor woman tried to comfort her.

"Does that answer the question?"

"Why are you so dramatic, Kari?" Eydis chided, though she was grinning.

"Because it's my job to be?" She joked, but turned to her new best friend. "Okay, you go over to that one--" she waved her vaguely at a ginger-haired man.

Eydis raised an eyebrow. "You mean Fandral?"

"Yeah, him. Pour him some wine," she instructed, grinning widely.

"Don't tell me you're going to use the snake trick again," Eydis replied, but moved to do so with a laugh.

"That was a small trick. This will be better, I promise," Kari said, wickedness creeping into her grin.

Eydis laughed, leaving to walk over to Fandral.

___

"I'm worried about those two. They look like they're going to get into trouble," Thor said quietly to the other king clad in green standing beside him. Loki could only sigh in resignation.

"If Kari had a Midgardian middle name, it would literally be 'trouble'," he informed the man whose sister had become best friends with his own. Thor did seem like a good king, and he would be happy to have an alliance with this god, but he was worried about the implications of their scheming sisters.

"They do realize this is my coronation, right? Should they not be more behaved?" Thor asked, though his questions were mostly rhetorical. He knew Eydis certainly wouldn't be behaved, and this new princess was definitely not helping matters.

"I feel like asking either of them to behave is like asking them not to exist. It's impossible," Loki pointed out.

"I cannot argue with that," Thor conceded.

A scream rang out, followed by shouts about snakes, and Loki nearly groaned as Thor looked to him, seeing that the king of Vanaham wasn't surprised.

"I just hope we can control whatever damage they're doing now," he muttered more to himself than anything.

"Tell me, do you really think that is possible?"

There was no answer.
