three x attack on asgard

::

"Oh dear. Is he dead?"

"You sound suspiciously uncaring."

"Perhaps that is because I am?"

"Oh my gods."

The two women were, once again, arguing, and once again, it was for the shock value of the others around them. A man had passed out, most likely from the amount of alcohol he had imbibed while flirting with every thing that looked remotely female around him. A line of drool extended from the corner of his mouth to the gilded tabletop, and Eydis made a face as it connected.

"The servants will need to wash this table twice as hard now," she said, her disgust evident in her tone and face.

"At least it is not my palace," Kari observed, almost carelessly except for the smirk she shot at Eydis.

"Don't even try that whole 'this is why Vanaheim is better' speech," she warned, though her lips curved upwards in a smirk that matched the Vanaheim princess'.

"Sister, Kari," a voice said behind them, and both women looked at each other before slowly turning to face their brothers.

"Oh, brother," Eydis said innocently. "How are you enjoying the feast?"

Thor only sighed, a resigned but knowing, faint smile on his lips. "It has been somewhat chaotic, though I have no doubt you know all about that."

Loki eyed Kari, who shot him an overly-bright, innocent smile.

"Whatever do you mean, Your Majesty?" Kari asked Thor innocently, her hands clasped behind her back in what others would perceive as an innocent gesture. Thor, and Loki, however, had no such disillusions that anything either goddess did was innocent. "We have been perfectly well-behaved."

"Oh, I have no doubt you like to think that," Thor said, shaking his head, though a faint smirk was present on his face. "Loki and I would like to speak to both of you privately."

Eydis and Kari exchanged a quick look that their brothers did not miss.

'You think they are upset?' Kari asked Eydis mentally, her powers being strong enough to extend to one other mind nearby.

'My brother may be upset, but he is easily reasoned with,' Eydis reassured her.

'Mine could be a tad bit harder to appease.'

'We will be fine.'

'I have no worries about that.'

Both women chuckled softly as they followed their brothers out of the grand banquet hall the palace boasted, into a more private hall where a golden brazier was alight with flames. Loki and Thor moved past it, before turning to face their sisters.

"Lady Kari, Eydis," Thor began, "what exactly have you been up to?"

'Don't give us away,' Kari shot at Eydis mentally.

'I could say the same of you.'

'What do we tell them?'

"Sister," Loki interrupted, able to hear every thought, "I can hear every word. It might be best to be honest here."

Kari shifted, a guilty smirk on her lips. "We were just... having some fun."

"Brother," Eydis added, "you do dislike most of the nobles present, anyway. What harm is it to play minor tricks on them?"

"Like hallucinations?" Thor asked, though he knew his sister was right.

Loki's attention immediately switched back to Kari. "Really, Kari? Out of everything, you chose hallucinations? That is such a weak form of trickery."

Kari stifled a laugh. "I seem to recall they used to work perfectly on you."

Thor had to cough at that, and Loki's narrowed gaze landed on him next. "Sorry, Loki, but... Really?"

"Oh, yes," Kari chimed in, a mischievous lilt to her voice that Loki knew all too well. She loved embarrassing him in front of friends -- and he knew she considered Thor and Eydis friends now. He did too, of course, which meant he could get her back. "Brother, don't you remember that time you were scared because of that rabbit you found?"

"Rabbit?" Eydis asked curiously, a wicked glint in her eyes as she looked directly at Loki.

"Oh, it was huge. The funny thing is the day before, he claimed to love all animals and insects. I, of course, believed him, and thought he would love it. Who does not love rabbits?"

"You knew I had made an exception," Loki claimed, rolling his eyes at her.

"No, I did not," Kari defended herself.

"Anyway!" Loki continued, eager to change the subject, "Thor and I--"

"Your Majesty!"

Kari turned at the sound of a servant girl's voice, recognizing it to be the voice of the girl from earlier who had been so nervous. The girl burst into the room, and then froze completely as the eyes of four royals turned upon her.

"O-oh," she stuttered, eyes wide with shock and fear. "M-y lord, I- I apologise."

"It is fine, Erika," Thor said gently, and Loki and Kari shot looks at each other, surprised and impressed that he would know his servants' names. That was a rare occurrence in the lands they had seen. "You may speak to all of us. I trust this King and Princess."

"My lord, there is an attack on Asgard coming," she breathed out, still nervous, but her voice becoming stronger.

"An attack?" Loki questioned quickly, frowning. "By whom?"

"The Frost Giants, Your Majesty," she answered quickly.

Loki and Kari's gazes locked, both having gone pale.

"Oh no."
