Scene: 9

Bestanden's Cave

Bestanden: I can't decide if I should eat you or I should transform you! You try my patience, so I suppose I should just kill you!

Kid: No! Wait, please! I'll do anything! Ahhh!

(noises of chomping and roaring sound before the lights come on)

Bestanden: (licking his chops) I couldn't do that when I was a human.

Amber: You were a human?

Bestanden: That is none of your business! But now that you're awake, I might as well get rid of you!

Amber: No! (exits, running)

Bestanden: Get back here! You can run, but I'll find you again!

(blackout, scene shifts to outside the cave)

Amber: (panting) I have to get out of here! (bumps into Evelyn) Who are you! You shouldn't be this close to the beast's cave!

Evelyn: That's Bestanden's cave?!

Amber: You're not dumb enough to actually go in there, are you?

Evelyn: I need to! Otherwise, we might not be able to defeat Directer!

Amber: Directer? You folks are from Valliea aren't you? Well, I've not only escaped that putrid town, but Bestanden's cave.

(Bestanden roars)

Amber: (scared) Speaking of, I need to leave like NOW!

Evelyn: (stopping her) Wait, maybe you could help us.

Amber: And why would I do that?

Dean: You know your way around the cave, so...

Amber: So you think I'm just gonna risk my life to lead your tiny so-called "army" into that... that thing's cave? No way! I need to get out of here before he hears- Serena? What're you doing here?

Serena: (walks closer) I caught a scent of these brave "trespassers" and followed them. (to Evelyn and company) I'll help you defeat the beast.

Amber: Well, you're gonna need a lot more help than this! Bestanden's gotten stronger since you left.

Redmond: You escaped?

Serena: (nods) Yes, before my full transformation, and I've been running since then.

Evelyn: How do you survive? Do you-

Serena: (laughs) No I don't eat people. I usually eat the fish or rabbits or anything that's pretty easy to catch.

Amber: Are you guys just going to stand there and talk all day or move before I get killed?

Serena: You won't get killed. Not with me around.

Amber: (sarcastically) Whoopie! I'm saved by a half-beast!

Serena: I'm not like Bestanden. (to Evelyn and company) I'll help you form your army.

Redmond: But who else will help us?

Serena: I know someone. Actually.. Two someones. Follow me... You coming, Amber?

Amber: No way! I'm not going back into that cave ever again. (noticing they're leaving and hears roars) But I'll go away from the cave. Wait up!
