Hey guys!! I am so happy to be back! So I wrote this chapter originally as just something for my best friend and fellow maze runner lover, but I decided in light of The Death Cure I should share it with you all. I hope you guys love it and please let me know what you thought of the movie!! I loved it and I cried way too hard in front of a theatre full of strangers.

much love,

"And you, tommy." Newt sneered. "You've got a lot of nerve coming here."

Thomas was at a loss for words, "Newt. I-"

"You promised, Tommy. But you broke that promise, and now I'm a bloody crank!" Newt's shouts shook Thomas to the core. He wanted to say something, anything to make his friend feel better, but he couldn't open his mouth.

"Did I ever tell you how I got this limp, Tommy?" Thomas just stared back in fear, his brain was telling him to run; this crank wasn't his friend, but he stayed.

"I climbed up the ivy and jumped. I tried to kill myself! I hated the place, Tommy!" Newt continued. He stopped raising his voice and looked up into Thomas' eyes, "I'm going crazy, Tom. I made you promise to kill me so no one, including me, would have to see me become this. A bloody monster!" A single tear slid down his cheek, and Thomas knew his best friend was still in there. The one that had befriended him the day he came up in the box, who always wanted to protect his friends, Alby's right-hand man.

"Newt, we can fix this. Wicked has to have a cure, or at least something to help you." He looked at the ragged mess his friend had become, but for every scratch and missing patch of hair he saw a flashback of moments he needed him. "We need you." He stated slowly.

"The gladers need you and-"

"We're not in the BLOODY GLADE anymore! Don't you see?" Newt cut him off.

"I need you." Thomas finished. "I need you to come with me. I broke my promise before, but this time I'm not letting anything stop me. I promise we'll help you, Newt."

In a flash Newt lost his sad expression and whipped out a gun, holding it to his own head.

"Please, Tommy, please." He whispered.

Thomas couldn't. His hands shook as Newt's forced his fingers toward the trigger.

His eyes met Newt's for a split second and then a bang erupted from the car Thomas had been in moments ago. The gun fell from Newt's hands as his body crumpled to the ground. Thomas held his friend.

"No!" he shouted. Feeling more agony than he ever thought possible as innumerable tears slipped down his cheeks.

He hugged his friend tightly, afraid of ever letting go again.

As he did so, he noticed the end of a dart sticking out of his neck. Tranquilizer.

He carried his friend back to the car without speaking. He made the rest of the journey in silence, listening to Newt's slow pulse; a final sign of hope.
