I groan, the time ticked by so slowly it almost seemed like it was going backwards. One dragging second after the next. Business was incredibly slow which gave me little to no work to do what so ever, the tables were clean, nobody was ordering drinks and I'd taken stock when I came in this morning.

"Tom," my boss called catching my attention, "I'm feeling generous, you can leave early, I'll handle the shop on my own."

I thanked him and gathered my things finally leaving the stuffy shop.
The air outside was fresh, it was late summer which was when the weather in England was at its best. The sky was a lovely shade of blue and clouds were scarce to say the least. The warmth from the sun on my face was refreshing, just what I needed.
I decided I might as well get some more sun so a walk down my the sea would be nice.
I was lucky to live in an area next to the sea, it was quiet and most people in the town were retired; so it was well looked after. It was still fairly early in the afternoon so the majority of people around were dog walkers or runners. I always enjoyed the atmosphere around this area, it welled distract me from life when I needed it most.
I sighed calmly as I took a seat on a bench overlooking the ocean. Just on the horizon was a little island, it was mainly inhabited my sheep but it was nice to look at; it was interesting.
Various sea birds soared through the sky catching my attention, even though they were a commonality around here the birds always seemed to draw my interest. The just seemed so care free and happy; they had the good life, being able to go where they wanted with nobody stopping them.

"Nice day isn't it?"

I jumped out my skin as an oh so familiar voice broke the silence. I looked over my shoulder to see the same brunette I'd been with early this morning. A small smile slid onto my face and I nudge his arm lightly with my fist.

"You scared the shit out of me, stalker." I laughed crossing my arms and looking back out at the view.

"I'm not a stalker," tord smirked trying his best to sound offended but it didn't work too well, "it's merely a coincidence we're in the same place at the same time." He nudged me back equally as light with his shoulder. He hopped over the bench skilfully, taking a seat next to me looking out at the view as well.

"This place is really nice. I'm glad I moved here." His voice was light, he seemed very genuine the way he spoke.

"Mhm," I nod, not taking my eyes off the horizon, "I'm glad you moved here too." Before I could stop myself the words slipped from my lips.

I stutter, trying to catch my own words but I couldn't quite grip them. My face flushed pink, I couldn't believe I just said that, "sorry that was kinda gay."

"Don't worry man, no homo." He laughed which triggered an equally stupid laugh from me.

We sat by each other's side for a while, no talking, just enjoying each other's company. Although it was nice being with him, I still felt pretty bad. I knew that it was only a matter of time before I would be gone and I would abandon him, the only thing I felt I cared about; even a little.

God damn it.

I shouldn't let this go any farther, I can't be friends with this guy, he's too good to care about me. It's selfish and unfair to keep this going.

"Um, I think I need to go." I stuttered, struggling to find my voice over the oncoming anxiety I could feel in the pit of my stomach.

"Oh, really? When are you next free? We should go and see a movie or get coffee again. I mean if you want to do those things." Tord looked saddened, it broke my heart seeing his usually chipper face contorted in such a way.

"I uh don't know." I stood making sure to grab all my things before scurrying away.

"I'll text you!" I heard tord call from behind me as I sped away.
