"You gotta be quicker than that!" Paul yelled while we were playing basketball in his backyard. I rolled my eyes as he had dunked on me.
I slapped his chest. "Olivia tell your daddy to calm down" I told Olivia who was coloring a page.
She turned her attention to us, "Daddy be nice" She said.
"Ya turning my daughter against me now, huh?" Paul said back handing me the basketball.
I rolled my eyes as I tried to find space, but he had his arms up and I had already used my steps. I stepped on his foot causing him to give me a little air space to put up a shot. It rolled in. I did a little spin, as he went over to grab the rebound.
"Cheater!" Paul joked as he began to tickle my sides.
I shrugged. "Not my fault your foot was there" I laughed.
I was getting a little bit tired, and I tried my best to guard Paul but he couldn't miss. "Paul I thought you were gonna go easy on me" I pouted while he went over to grab the ball.
He chuckled. "I'm a competitive person. I don't know how to go easy."
I raised an eyebrow. "How about if you go up against Olivia?"
"Yeah. Let me play daddy." Olivia said getting out of her seat. No way he's gonna go all out on her.
He looked over at me, "Maybe when she's older. But not know she can't even defend me right now" Paul said seriously.
Paul was crouching as he played against Olivia. He was so slow, but he wasn't standing up so there was that. Still it was so cute seeing Olivia and Paul spend their valuable time together. It sucked that Paul was leaving on a road trip tomorrow, and Olivia with Daniela.
I was a little bit scared of Daniela. She looked straight up crazy that one time, but I'm sure she does the very best with Olivia. I hoped there would be no unnecessary drama.
Paul looked over at me, "Ju, you good now?" He asked concerned.
I smiled, "Ya, I'm just a little tired but I'm fine" I assured him.
They ended their game and the sun was coming down so we all decided to head inside. "Ya wanna go out to eat?" Paul asked me.
I shook my head, "I'm already fat, so I'm good" I said back sitting on the couch.
He furrowed his eyebrows. "No you ain't. You're beautiful.
I wasn't that I was self conscious, but that I was slacking on going to the gym and eating right. It worried me. "Paul stop, ya always making me blush" I hid my face.
He chuckled as he grabbed my hands from my pockets, "You better know how beautiful you are. Because damn! You're stunning."
I smiled while he interlocked our hands together. In my previous relationships my exes would only tell me I was beautiful when we were about to do the nasty, because I was pleasing their needs. But I'm dressed in nike sweats and a nike shirt and he thinks I'm beautiful. That's how I know it's genuine.
"Thank you.."
He nodded his head. "You deserve some love" and with that he pulled me into a long kiss. His lips felt so soft and warm. He was getting a little tongue action in too but Olivia walked in and screamed.
"Ahh!" She screamed while running away.
"Olivia baby," Paul chuckled. "It's over. You can come back inside." I remember when I was a little girl and saw my parents doing the same thing. I used to think it was the craziest thing ever and that they were torturing each other. Then again, I wasn't the brighest.
She walked in carefully and with her eyes shut, "Look. We'll be more careful okay?" Paul told her.
I nodded my head in agreement. "Ya, we will. I'm sorry" I said crouching down to her height and pulling into a tight hug.
"It's okay. Mommy does that all the time." She said back.
Paul scrunched his nose. "She has a boyfriend?" He seemed to be surprised.
"No, just stranger boys" She frowned. I could sense the anger that Paul was feeling. Who'd want their child to be in that kind of environment? Daniela can't just bring guys over, a child needs consistency in their life not just some random dudes who are only there for a blow job and leave.
"I love you baby. But please go to your room." He said to her as calmly as he could.
She frowned, "Did I do something wrong?" That broke my heart. She had nothing to do with it. She had no control.
He shook his head, "Of course not. I just don't feel the best and I don't want you to catch it." He lied.
"Okay daddy. Feel better" She said running away to her room. We were both silent until we heard Olivia's door shut.
He sighed as he went over to grab his phone, "Just when I think she knows simple ass things like this. She comes back and does things like this."
"Paul.."
"I don't care about her business. She's a grown ass woman, but I don't want my daughter hearing that shit. Out of respect for Olivia doesn't she know? I'm sick of her shit." This was the first time I've seen Paul get really this emotional with me. I didn't know how to handle it. Of course I had an opinion, but I don't think I had a place to say something.
"I don't know what to say. I really don't. I'm not a mother, and I do have an opinion but it's not my place." I told him truthfully.
"Thank you.. for being so calm and everything." He didn't have to thank me. "Now let me handle this shit." He said in full daddy mode walking into the back yard with his phone. It was crazy how every little thing he would do would turn me on.
