Paul George
It had been 3 weeks since I last heard from Julianna. I missed her, and I wondered why she chose to grow so distant. But, then again I made no effort to contact her."You gonna bring a plus one?" Russ asked through the phone. He was gonna having a big party at the club tomorrow to celebrate his birthday and most of my teammates were bringing their wives and girlfriends.
"Uh, I don't know." I sighed.
"You still haven't talked to her?" Russ asked.
"No, I'm just scared now cause I feel it's been too long"
He smacked his lips, "don't be like that, we're grown you shouldn't let time be a factor. Go get your lady"
"But I still haven't repaired things with Daniela and –"
"Fuck that bro, tomorrow is never promised and if you love her you love her. Don't let nobody get in the way of love not even your baby mama. You've been a great father and she's not gonna take Olivia away from you"
I sighed, "It's just you know with my exes something has always gotten in the way, and I just don't want that to happen with Julianna and I"
"That shit ended because it wasn't meant to be. The right woman will stand by you through the thick and thin and I'm lucky that I have that with Nina"
"Damn, you're right"
"When am I wrong?" He chuckled
"When you don't pass me the ball" I joked.
"Ya think after seeing you in the three point contest shooting bricks I'm gonna let you shoot jumpers?"
"When you gonna let that go?" I rubbed my forehead not wanting to remember.
"Probably never, but I still love ya bro. I want the best for you and I hope ima be seeing you with Julianna tomorrow"
"Me too man, hopefully she forgives me"
"She's in love with you. She is gonna forgive you"
"And I love her too"
"Then tell her that."
"Thank you russ, I really needed this"
"You know I'll always have your back"
____
I texted Julianna to meet me at a spot in downtown OKC. I didn't get a reply but I decided to go anyways in case she had a change of heart.
I tapped my watch looking around the restaurant. I've been here for 10 minutes and I was really hoping not to be stood up. Especially with Julianna cause I don't catch feelings this quick.
I put on my beanie hoping no one would notice me, because my mind was focused solely on getting my girl back.
A few minutes later I noticed that she did in fact come and I called her over, "Julianna!" I yelled grabbing her attention.
She smiled at me sitting at the booth across from me. "Hey"
"I've missed you"
She chuckled, "then why haven't I heard from you?"
"Because I'm an idiot"
"I'm hurt. I needed you and you wasn't there Paul" she said seriously.
I sighed heavily. I didn't want to let her down like this, "I'm sorry, I was just dumb. I don't what happened to me."
"You could've just texted me. I tried texting you but you wouldn't answer. After that, I basically thought you wanted me out your life"
"I guess I was just scared to commit as crazy as it sounds. I haven't really been in a relationship since Daniela and I wasn't ready to let go of my player ways. But then I realized none of them girls could amount to what you make me feel, and that put shit in perspective for me." I hoped she would give me another chance.
She smacked her teeth, "Okay"
"Okay what?"
"I forgive you. But don't come back in my life just to leave me again, I don't want to get hurt anymore" she looked down at the table.
"I'm here to stay" I took her hand in mine.
"Y'know I ain't really realize it before but you got some big ass hands" she teased
"Wow yous just gonna do me like that, I see how it is" I laughed.
"So how's Olivia been. I've missed her" She smiled.
"She's good. She just keeps getting bigger and bigger and I wanna slow down time cause soon enough she's gonna bring a boy to my door and ima have to beat his ass" I laughed.
"Paul!"
"What? No boy's good enough for my baby"
"Well, you just gotta enjoy these moments right now cause she's not gonna be that little girl forever"
I smiled remembering the words Russ said to me earlier. "tomorrow is never promised" and I remember what I came here for.
"Julie lets go outside for a minute I wanna show you something" she obliged and I held her hand leading the way.
"I remember the first time I saw you and thinking damn this girl is beautiful. You just seemed to elevate my game, and when you met my daughter and how you guys bonded, and how you put me in place when I was wrong. I needed that. I love you and I'm tired of waiting. So will you be my girlfriend?"
I saw tears falling from her cheek and I wiped them away, "Yes baby"
I pulled her into a hug and kissed her with so much passion. I ain't never want to let this girl go. I honestly could see a forever with her.
"You mean so much to me Julie. Thank you for forgiving me and giving me a second chance"
"I can't hold any grudges with you. You mean a lot to me"
"Oh yeah, I forget to tell ya Russ throwing a party in downtown. Would you want to be my plus one and make it official?"
"Duh, but I gotta get my hair, makeup, nails ready. When is it?"
"Baby chill. You look good right now." She had no makeup on and she still looked stunning. I honesty don't know why she wanted to paint her face, but hey if my baby like it I can't complain.
"That's what you're supposed to say" she rolled her eyes.
"I mean It though"
"So when's the party?"
"Tomorrow" I said back.
"What's the theme?"
"Just dress formal" I rolled my eyes.
"I ain't even got a dress though" she frowned.
"Ima take you shopping tomorrow and we can match" I chuckled.
"Yea, but promise me one thing?" She got on her tippy toes kissing me.
"Yea?" I looked down at her.
"I'm paying for my dress" she raised an eyebrow.
I shook my head, "sorry I can't promise that"
She groaned, "why?"
"Cause I love spoiling ya ass. You deserve it after what I put you through"
"Good thing ima beat you to the register then" she teased.
"Baby I'm way faster than you. You barely run"
She rolled her eyes, "ima find a way though."
