that same friday

A whirlwind of emotions swirled through Cordelia. At first disbelief coursed through her. She genuinely did not believe that the person she was talking to all these months was actually her. Once the initial emotion wore off, confusion, hurt, and insecurity was what struck next upon Cora.

If Gwendolyn really was her in the pictures, then why did she keep refusing to FaceTime me? Why did she always bail out on our dates at the very last moment? Was it because Gwen didn't actually like me and she was just pretending the whole time for my sake? Did she only show up tonight to tell me that all of this didn't really mean anything to her?  That all of this was just a cruel harsh joke? W-were my feelings just one sided this whole entire time?  These were all the questions that came up in Cora's mind.

After the internal questioning passed, realization and anger were the final two things that Cora felt. She realized that her Winnie had lied to her about who she was, even when she had confronted her about what Sawyer had discovered. Winnie, or much rather Gwendolyn Filippi was a liar. She was not an assistant makeup artist. She was a model. She was an actor. She was a singer. To put it simply, Gwendolyn was a celebrity. The excuse of not having any social media accounts was a lie. Gwen very much had social media accounts, she just did not share them to her, or rather she did not choose to share them with her.

Cordelia was pulled out of her thoughts when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her. She glanced to who was touching her and noticed that it was Gwendolyn. Cora shook her head and forcefully removed Gwen's arms from her and took a step back as she crossed her arms. She could not believe the audacity that Gwen had to hug her like that after all the lies that she fed her.

Cora looked towards Gwen and saw the brief hurt look on her face. A part of her felt bad for doing that to Gwen but a bigger part of her just straight up did not give a fuck. That big part of her believed that Gwendolyn deserved to feel that, especially after everything that she put her through the past few months.

"So a doppelgänger, huh?" The sarcasm evident in Cora's voice.

A look of shame appeared on Gwendolyn's face as she began to fidget with her hands. "Yeah about that... I lied," she replied.

"Yeah, no shit," Cora scoffed, "You lied to me about everything. You lied to me about your job, about not having social media accounts. You even lied when I confronted you about what my friend found! That would have been the perfect opportunity to come clean to me! I bet that you don't even have feelings for me whatsoever!"

A strange mixture of uncomfortableness, remorse, and anger started to build inside of Gwen. She felt uncomfortable because for the first time in a long while, she was finally being confronted on her actions in person. As much as she wanted to just crawl away from this scenario and hide away from the rest of the world for a good month, she knew that she had to brace through this and own up to her mistakes and lies. Gwen thought that Cora deserved that much from her. Cora deserved an explanation. Gwendolyn felt extremely awful for lying to Cordelia for practically the whole time they've been communicating and wished that she could turn back time and just start over with her. She wished that she just told her the truth from the start instead of acting like a coward and building lie after lie, but she couldn't. Though the moment that Cora said that she did not have feelings for her made her angry. The anger, however, was not directed towards Cordelia. The anger was directed to herself. Gwen knew that based off of everything that she had done to Cora in their relationship, if you could even call it that, it made perfect sense that Cora thought Gwen's feelings towards her were not genuine. Gwendolyn just hated the fact that all of her mistakes was what caused Cora to come to that conclusion.
